Are there any recommendations for a good book/tutorial on painting in general? I know of the "All Mighty Humongus Tutorial", and I found a book Digital Character Design and Painting (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1584502320/qid=1121571275/sr=2-2/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_2/104-4543430-7135961), is it any good? I've never painted before, except for a little bit of watercolors in art class(middle school art class; I'm a freshman in high school). I just got Painter IX, but it hasn't come in yet, I got the handbook too, any idea if it has any good information in it?

Hello, im a freshman also. I say that you dont buy books unless you really like them. check your library see if tey have an online service thatll allow you to brosw the catalog. ive requeted like 20 books and gotten about 17 of em which probably about 5 really are helpful and stick out. theres also a thread about really good books you could use but i dont have it and its mostly graphite mediums some watercolors. just look in the tutorial section and if i can ill fidn my book marks file form my old computer
