the ear seems to be far too close to the eyes and placed too high as well.

The nose could use some more definition. It looks flat right now. Perhaps adding some deeper shadows will help.

The neck on the viewers right side slants off to the right, looks unnatural.

I like the way you handled the hair!

Well, if you're going for the classic tolkien / D&D elf, then you need to move the ears down, so that if they were human ears the top would line up with the brow in a profile view. What makes them elven is the small piece of tissue that forms the point. Also, elven ears are traditionally close to the head. Yours appear to stick out a little too much.

You might also concider moving the corner of the jaw up a little, for a more sweeping angle. Elves tend to have a frail look in their face. Your jaw seems a little too strong. Elves also have slightly larger than normal eyes (less so in males, but still noticable).

When you draw elves think long flowing frail features.

Good, detailed. You could consider making the neck a little thinner.

I'd say you should leave this piece alone for a while and do some skull studies instead. Don't care about doing any detailed ones just yet. Focus on the big shapes, while you maintain porportion. Use loomis or any other to get some reference on construction. If you don't have any anatomy books, I can provide a cuple of scans, or at least direct you to some good references. kChen's thread is a bible.

While or after you have done some studies, try drawing him in profile withe the same attributes you gave him now.

All I can give for now..hope you find it helpfull.

Cool!
Here is some good teaching on head construction. I'd avoid copying, at least the pages further in the book. Use it as a methodical reference...do your best to apply to your ref\life drawings.

Not all of the details is essential here, but pay attention to the shapes and proportion...
