ive been doing primarily traditional self portraits for close to a month now, and quite enjoying it. here are a few selected highlights if you will, ill be getting some more later (alot are class assignments and i cant remember which ones) been having a ton of fun with rubbing alcohol, not to mention tria ink refills, id reccomend trying both (especially the rubbing alcohol, you cant have much more fun for 99c :D )

specially like the 3rd one and the second to last.

The_dude_Abidin-yes as a matter of fact i did attend SCAD for my freshman year, i transferred out to Maryland Institute College of Art though. Were you in a class of mine (my first name's Trevorr)?
ummo-the alcohol is just something i use to dilute the Tria refill ink, and for india ink washes it makes it go on really flat and dry quickly (like using a marker)

Hey, jhibbs, quick question. I got accepted to MICA and SCAD and I need to decide which one I am going to go to. So why did you switch to MICA? Thanks.:chug:

Faxtar-i really didnt like SCAD as a school. despite its 'big name' most people i konw who go know someone there all say they dont like it. i also didnt like the location (savannah) but thats more a personal thing, some people like getting mugged (look at the thread about scad in the schools subforum for more on that wonderful subject).
but seriously, first off, they let pretty much everyone into that school, no portfolio required, so i felt the envrionment was not challenging enough for me, being as many of the student had little/no prior art experience. i feel that being among other talented students is even more important than good teachers.
also, i changed my mind about majoring in computer art, and decided to be a painter, however i didnt really like the way the school's painting course was set up (seemed to turn out kinda the same work). im hoping, like many on this forum, to be a concept artist, or possibly a matte painter, and feel traditional painting skills would be valuable to my career. that is the main reason i chose MICA, as far as painting schools go (at least on this coast) they are among the best). so yea, its all personal preference (my way of trying not to piss anyone off ;P), but id STRONGLY suggest visiting both if possible, unless you make up your mind easily (good way to get out of school for a bit).

Jhibbs, great work and experimentation going on here. I especially dig the inks and some of your pencil stuff. Have you done any oils or acrylics lately? I'd like to see how far you've come along on those. Top-notch man, keep it up.

blackhawk-thanx, the ink experimentation was partially inspired by yoji shinkawa (metal gear concept artist, get either of the books if you dont have them, great stuff) as for my painting, it's finally STARTING to go the way i want, heres the latest one i did (a few days ago), part of a project on opposites (im gonna be a cross dresser in the other one :p)
