Good guesses everybody, but unfortunately you are all wrong. the anwser may be more obvious than you think. I actually based the armour on an existing pice of modern armour. I painted this wearing a football players shoulderpads, only I rotated the pads 90 degres and stuck my face through the opening. since none of you guessed corectly feel free to use your guesses to create your own fantasy armour.
