I decided to post my old portfolio to reintroduce myself back to conceptart forums. I remember someone in austin telling me if no one seen it it's new. Hopefully this is a start for me to participate more on these forums. Slot is line work and some color.

Very cool character and creature designs. You have quite an eye for detail. Thanks for sharing these.

This (http://users2.ev1.net/~skello/gastonbros/images/oproject2.jpg) one is pretty rocking, the rest range from pretty great to not very finished looking. Overall though the concepts seem to take on a unique spin, yet maintain a consistancey so I can see them all existing in the same 'universe' if you will. Id like to see more of the sketches finished off in watercolor though.

You really do have a great eye for details, I love some of the things, but you should also think about your studies - will you keep them in the portfolio? Some of the things aren't functional (like that hippo-man-mantis). But this is still some great work :blahblah:

Some very fun designs there, I'd like to see more of them painted. You seem pretty comfortable with line art but the painted peices arent rendered to the high standard the line art would suggest. Maybe thats something you've worked on already but I think you have a flair for design, so keep up the good work. :)

Jedmo- thanks much appreciated

Smitherines & Jack Frost- Thanks hopefully I'll get around to posting some new stuff after I finish up some non-concpet related stuff in a couple of days.

ryanwh- I see what you're talking about. A lot of these were done during my school days So it was concept hand it off to be modeled(assembly line).I've been playing around with water colors actually alot more fun then staying in photoshop or painter for hours. No ctrl-Z either.

AngryScientist-You call it like you see it. I'll have to do more studies to develope the functionality of the anatomy on the creature. Thanks.

Spacemonkey- Yeah I definately need to figure out how to aproach painting some of the stuff I draw and getting it to the level and quality of the art.

DSillustration- Thanks! The Moon Called tutorial you did was awesome. Now if only I had some oils and brushes. You just reminded me I have to go see Fantastic 4 sometime soon.

At first I was going to say, "That's nice that you used to draw, but how about some stuff you're working on now?"

Then the page loaded and I saw ALOT of fantastic work. Hopefully you stick around and give us an idea of where you're at now!

I really like your marker character designs, you have used a good set of colour tones. Hopefully, If I practice enough I can draw to a similar standard. When markering do you start with the lights or darks first? because when I'm doing it I generally start with the light areas then build up the darks. sorry about all the questions! but what do you use to do outlining, is it a fineliner of some sort? :^^;:

Wohr Path- Always lurking man. Tell the guys at tko I said sup.

KuNiva- When Marker rendering I usualy start by scaning my art and printing out a photocopy. Since you'll have a copy you don't have to worry about the pencils smearing. I usually use anything from the range of 30% 50% and 70% cool or warm grey markers and a whiteout pen(or you can use photoshop or painter for highlights).

Photocopy the original line art

start the rendering with the lightest marker and work to darkest to define the shapes.

After the marker stage is layed out I usually go back and ink back in the line work.

At this point I'll take a whiteout pen( A white gellyroll pen works) and do some highlights.

I'm no feng so I hope that helps you out. :bashful:

clogik- No problem

PriNcE oF SpAcE- I will. I will.

Unbreakable- Thanks brian.

zao75231- I'm sure you're bust'n out some sweet $H!T at ritual. I've seen some of the sin episodes(from IGN to clarify)screens so maybe I'll see some of your characters or stuff running around getting shot up by burt's.

Hey Dez.

First off: Cool stuff!

If you're planning' on using these as an actual portfolio, I think you should be a tad more critical. As said, some of them are really top notch, yet some are just "meh...." or indeed slightly off, inparticular regarding posture. Snevil strikes me as the poorest one. I friggin love the hawkman though :)!!
Also I'd say be careful with the Feng influences. His is a style that's easily recognized, and i don't think you have to latch on to his style. You've got it going for yourself!!!!

Great stuff man. I hope I'm not too uptight ;)

thanks Dallas

Don't worry about being uptight.Which you're not.

Crits taken in. It's always good to get something constructive to grow from.Otherwise you'll never get better.

great work
its nice to see such a large volume of work
all at once it show a nice progression in your style
love the ideas and love the painted work
i have two tiny crits:
anatomy is pretty good but still a bit off on your humans
and id like to see some more difference in line quality
perhaps some thinner lighter lines
im not sure what yer drawing with but maybe try a harder lead
or a .5 mechanical (my fav)
the creatures are top notch thogh
keep more work coming!!!!!!!
