It’s been a while since I’ve contributed anything here. It’s also been a while since I’ve finished anything outside of work. :)
These are a collection of character designs I’ve been working on in my spare time for various personal projects. I thought that maybe if I posted these it would kick me in gear to finish them.

I love them! I love seeing the progression of the last one, and the alien is cool looking! Not many people paint jolly normal looking bears....
Good thing you painted one and did a good job! :)
please post more if you have them!

Hey Bobo! I'm sort of a long-time fan of yours...didn't know you were on CA :) I've seen most of these pics before in your WIP folder, but the top one and the bear are both new to me, and both very cool...the top one makes me think "future witch" for some reason...very cool mix of influences! I think the armored sketch is very cool, but like LC3 said, it doesn't scream "original" like the future witch. The bear reminds me of your fatass samurai :) I really like the humpback alien, but I'd really like to see him have some real hands...but that's just me. I like seeing the steps for the design of the last guy...he seems nautical to me, not sure why...all very cool though! Hope to see you around the forums some more! I recommend joining the DSG if you have time, it's really great!

That first pic is just soooo cool. Very nice Space-witch. :p
And you render the pics so nicely :D
I'm not sure if I dare make a crit ;) , so I'll just say it.
The forehead-mouth on the hunchback looks a little out of place, not really centered.
Oh and sumo-bear doesn't have a lower body. :D Finish him!

I dont know if I dare to critisize, but... ;) I mean, Its a lot over my standard...
Anyways, I will give mho. :D
I like the first one, very good. reminds me of "Captain Harlock" for some reason (oldschool anime - Toei movie). Very nice hat, and leathery feel to it.
The second one I like ! Its my favourite, I think! I especially like the "coy" stance. But helmet could be a little more cooler, but I know tough helmets are hard to make. Maybe a gasmask combined with some sort of "radar-wing" on the side would do it? Instead of the antenna I mean?
The bear thingie? Well, not my thing, It doesent do it for me, but I imagine "gamma-world" fans and "mutant" lovers would love it :D
The monster, good one, especially like the background. Cool monsters is hard to do... This is maybe not so original, but I couldent make a better myself, soo... :/ I like the flourescent lighting in it - very well rendered. :D
Sketch - interessting to see how its done - good "tutorial pic" :D
However, somethings not entirely right with his lower legs/shins. There usually not that straight. Also his lower-arms are a little too straight, a little more bend in them would be nice. With risk of sounding like a "besserwisser" - the lower arms and lower legs have two bones each in them, kinda spiraling around each-other, giving the hands and feet the abillity to turn, hence they also are a little bent.
The final almost finished pic shows those "flaws" too.
All-in-all, its an very impressive array of pics, and very interessting to see how there done. I may try this technique Ur using sometime in the near future. U got excellent color feel and the sketch-work seems to really flow for U!
Keep up the good work :D

dear mr. Bobo the seal.
I am a fan of your work on polycount and your website is what directed me to CA. I would just like to say that you work inspires me, and your skinning work is truly sets a standard for other artists, and yes, the aliens forhead mouth is crooked.:)
Mr. seal, it's good to see you post some of your fine work. you are a pimp.

JoShuA.

I like the jk2 design that you've updated there bobo. I think you need to alter his stance though to match the larger arm. I hope his left arm will also get the treatment too.
Keep working on him bobo... I'd like to see this guy reach the 3d stage ;)
