maybe this is a sketchbook? Like I said, this is my first post here so I apologize if this is in the wrong spot or something. I'm a computer animation student in chicago...I don't have any cg work online yet but will soon, here's some 2d stuff...the first is for a class short film, the first will be a background that a 2d animator will animate upon. I am doing several different angles for different shots. I also included a couple super rough initial shot plans/boards from the scene. The other stuff is just random things I've done lately. Please feel free to give me helpful critiques...I'm trying to improve alot. And I will return the favor by commenting to others. Thanks! :bashful:

WIP...I'm going to try my hardest to make this a convincing underwater atmosphere when it's done...more "paint" more messing with the color values and I think I can do it...I'm using photoshop cs over a pencil sketch

Hey these look really nice. BTW try placing at the begining of your picture link and at the end. People here are lazy and wont click on the links. Anywau, nice coloring jobs, real soft and nice.

You need a better color palette for the underwater one, colors tend to be strongly blue/green tinted underwater, and diving suits tend to be monochromatic. This guy kinda looks like an underwater clown suit just because of the colors.

Your B&W work is very strong and clean. I don't care for your anatomy too much (you really need to practice consistent proportions for arms, hands, and two people that close to each other), but you have a very good "hard edged" style, well suited to illustration.

It will be interesting to see your animations, I'm sure!

quick_sketch: thanks...I did use the tags, but it doesn't seem to be working...hmm... *edit...ok, I figured it out

madster: Also, thanks for the crit...my grasp on color is really really lacking, I need some basic color usage tutorials or something...
Also, about the proportion, I agree it's off, I'm glad somebody pointed it out because I need to work on my figure drawing etc...which I've been making an attempt to do. Random anatomy studies will be up soon. As for the "hard edged" style, while I find it kind of gratifying, I'm really trying to work on my pencil rendering skills...crappy attempts to be up shortly as well but I do not have a scanner at home.

OK...I hate photobucket...I can't seem to get certain images to an acceptable size no matter what...others seem to be bigger by themselves...anyway, here is a sketch update...my weakness is drawing hands...I suck...expect a large number of hand and foot studies soon. Also, I'm going to focus on some female anatomy for a change as you can see I've started in a couple quick poses.
This is alot of pencil rendering practice w/ faces, etc son w/ ref, some without...as always, helpful crit is encouraged...please help me get better! :) THANKS! :)

Ok, I've been trying to sketch as much as possible...took me forever to update, but I was busy moving. Here's some random studies from life, photo, books, my head, etc... alot of work w/ hands since I suck at them, I am going to be moving along to feet and trying to tighten them both up then tie them into the rest of the form...I've been doing tons of quick pose gestures from my head while I have nothing to do at work :) I'm gonna upload some as well as maybe start doing wacom sketches instead of nothing but pencil. OK, SO I NEED CRIT and advice...I am pretty much self taught as far as drawing, never had a life drawing class...I am trying to make due w/ studying photos, anatomy books, whatever...I want to improve ALOT, and try and develop my digital paint skills and hopefully combine it all w/ my animation to be employable or something :) I want to create fluid spontaneous works from my head without relying so much on reference... THANKS! Oh yeah I'm gonna be doing some more enviroments soon so I'll upload some WIP's and all thatt

Like I've said before I have no scanner so it takes me awhile to post stuff...here's a sketch I did as a quick concept idea for a short 3d animation I will be working on. The reason there is kind of a dark spot in the middle is that I accidentally spilled water on it shortly before scanning...sorry! Again, crit is welcomed...I'm working on a few more of these and will post them when I can. Thanks!
