All paintings were done in PS. I hope you've enjoyed some of my work.
Stories that go with the art can be found on my portfolio page (http://www.ramoncontini.com).

I've been taking art way more seriously since the first CA workshop in April 2004, and have been painting since then.

I still consider myself a beginner in the field of illustration and concept-art.
I welcome advice on how to expand my portfolio, and crits to better my work.

take care, Ramon.

I especially like your colour choices. The raven drawing is very nice, but I personally would have liked it to be a bit more refined, particularly the raven's feathers. When I think "ravens", shiny black coat of feathers is the first thing that comes to mind.

The first one of your brushed-up drawings is the one I like most, but if asked I wouldn't be able to say why exactly. The colours, the abstract elements, they all work really well for me in that one. Beautiful work.

It's a crazy coincidence, but just today I was looking for the name of a song which turned out to be "Mother Earth" by "Within Temptation". Never heard of them before. Found it by googling the lyrics :) And now this. Perhaps it's a sign... 8)

Those banners are awsome. I'd love to have those hanging on my wall. I could see them as decorative panels on a set of folding doors or cabinets or something like that.

These are good, the only one i saw a with problem was the 2nd banner, the actual banner part is good, but the inner parts seem sloppy and less rendered as the rest of the banner. You should go back and tighten them up and maybe go for a little bit more realism. But the rest are good. :)

Love your 'brushed up' drawings and concept sketches. Great colour work.

- ceberae :
Your right about the Raven not being too Raven-like. I wanted to give the bird some kind of a twist, not your ordinary Raven. I think I might have overdone it.

Glad you like the brushed-up drawing. And yeah! Your coincidental encounter with WT (http://www.within-temptation.com/) is a sign! :$

- Gilead :
Thx. I'm glad you like the banners.

- phlem117 :
I'm not sure I get what you mean. Keep in mind the conceptual approach of the designs, for fleshing out is not a nescecity.

- SEVENS :
Glad you like those brushed up drawings.

these look and feel beautiful. I like that sketch of the head, reminds me of Escher's Rind head.... slightly...

vigostar : Glad ya like. It amazes me that ppl pick that piece as a fav while it was the fastest in the making.

Asoir : Haha...

glikster : Thanx. I'll look up that 'rind head' piece by Escher sometime.

Yo Ramon!!! How are you doing? It's great to have you back.
Your new work is great, really solid. It seems you've been working pretty hard.
It paid off, of course you must keep honing your skills. Your shading have evolved really great. Also your figure and anatomy.
Seriously, keep up the hard work. And post more.

Cheers.
