Ok, guys this little creep needs your advice. It's a COW attempt - I couldn't fully participate but liked the topic so I've made some sketches then and decided to finish it now. This is what I have so far: kind of a lighting and color concept. I'd really like to hear some crits.

And the linework:

Other sketches are in my sketchbook.

really nice piece so far,
im dissappointed that you didnt put this in cow.
i did a small re-paint to explain my intentions.
mostly i wanted to point out the area on his chest.
a few cast shadows work wonders.
i also added those extra spikes against the light back drop just to bring attention to his face instead of his body.

Thank you a lot - it's great to get advice from such incredible artist as you. I regret that I didn't make it on time too, but this whole semester is mad and I wasn't able to finish any of my COW ideas - but now it's summer time :)
I agree about the cast shadows - they really help to define the form as well as more higlights. It's still a very early stage so I'll definitely work on it. I'm not sure if I'll add any spikes (I don't feel like they go with the design) but you're right that his body attracts too much attention. Maybe when I'll add some more detail to the head and dim the back light it'll help.
Thank you again for your help :)
I'll post next stage as soon as possible. Still have one exam :dead:

i like the original drawing better than the digital paint. also the eyes are different sizes. also the shadows look weird.

Yeah, too bad his belly gets lost in the shadow. I dunno, looks like he's some kind of background decoy. Maybe details & texture would help the cause. Still a pretty cool monster dude.
DSillustration: your version is interresting.

Sweet picture man! I felt like I had to play with it. Here's my quick paint over. I figured since he's rolling around in green muck he should be slimier, giving him some sharp highlights. Also tried to bounce some more of that green light onto his chest ridge thingies.
