Severith
March 19th, 2003, 10:55 AM
I got mine with a bit fantasy and a generator LOL

So I thought it sounds tight and oh yeah "Stuck with it" ;)

Edit: No prob ;)

usagi yojimbo
March 19th, 2003, 11:15 AM
usagi yojimbo was a samurai rabbit that was made famous cause he was like the ninja turtles and started as a comic book like them too. i had the action figure when i was a kid and thought he was the coolest thing ever

i forgot about him until about a year ago so i decided to use his name

Lost
March 19th, 2003, 01:02 PM
I used to be in a rap group in high school called MDC (most dangerous connection). Anybody from Springfield Ohio out there!?! You might remember us.

Anyway, My rap name was Point Blank. Then another rap group came out with someone named point blank so I had to change mine.....
I had matured a little bit and wanted a name that reflected that. so I chose......

Lost Boy Messiah.....

I thought I was the shit......

Well I ended up quitting the group...A couple of us went to Jail....but I still kept the name for a few years.

Then I listened to Crucial Conflict's first album and one of the dudes from that group is named "Never"....

"Thats a freakin sweet ass name", I thought. So with that inspiration I shortened my rap name to Lost.

Then years later when I became a gaming geek in college I used that as my "gaming handle".

So if any of ya'll play online games and come across "Lost" you know who you are facing.

then you can bust a cap in my ass because I suck.......

Was that long enough for you?.....:D

miasmak
March 19th, 2003, 01:14 PM
miasma+k
another word for miasma is fog, obscuring atmosphere. It also contains all the letters of my name and a few extra. When I started using it there already was a miasma so since there is a Marvin K. Mooney character in Dr Seuss I add a k on the end and I've never found a duplicate since.

die-chan
March 19th, 2003, 03:41 PM
die chan just came from my real name (diana)
and took off ana and added "chan". ppl have been calling me die chan at conventions and stuff :o so why not.

Pontemonti
March 19th, 2003, 04:33 PM
Pontemonti is Italian for Broberg, which is my surname. In English, Broberg would be Bridgemountain. Cool, huh?!

tarwater
March 19th, 2003, 04:51 PM
When I was a wee lad, me and some friends were wanderin' around a construction site that was to be our new school. They were getting ready to do the roof soon and tar paper was spread before us. The Texas summer sun was bearing down mightily causing the tar to melt a trickle and then a bit later rain began to fall. The tar and water became one, and tarwater was begat. Out of nowhere someone dared me to pour some into my pants and roll around on the ground shouting "if only you knew!". I did. Thus my nick name.

Oh! I almost forgot...strange coincidence, it's also my last name...:bash: and I really have no recollection of the events that I just spewed out...that's just what I was told... by bad people...I think.

I.was.ink
March 19th, 2003, 05:35 PM
well look at my signature. They are lyrics from an mc called Mos def, I'm sure some of you have heard of him.

And not my name is not iwa...sink. Meaning that I was going to say something, but I was so fat that I sunk! I know thats weird, but some guy actually thought that's what my name meant?

weird:rolleyes:

your last name starts with 3?

Android
March 19th, 2003, 07:48 PM
when I was like 8 or nine my uncle used to call me android instead of andrew, I didnt even know what an android was back then. but I thought it sounded cool, it just kind of stuck with me I guess.

KayCustomz
March 19th, 2003, 08:49 PM
cause i wanted it to be my name:bash:

rimwalker
March 19th, 2003, 10:16 PM
I pulled the term "rimwalker" from the book "Grendel" by John Gardner. It was my favorite book in high school, and I still like it. Thusly...

Lono
March 19th, 2003, 10:47 PM
i got my name from a Hunter S Thompson book.

Clodhopper
March 19th, 2003, 11:32 PM
I got huge feet. size 18...I grew like a beast in highschool-and lacked all coordination. Do you know how hard it is to dribble a basketball with size 18 shoes getting in the way? I was called Clodhopper many times in highschool. Now i just use the name to draw attention to my feet, cuase you know what the ladies say about guys with big feet, right?

goldenavatar
March 19th, 2003, 11:38 PM
My nickname is just the title of my favorite song. I felt it elaborated quite nicely on my personality.

Coma
March 20th, 2003, 12:50 AM
"A state of deep, often prolonged unconsciousness, usually the result of injury, disease, or poison, in which an individual is incapable of sensing or responding to external stimuli and internal needs."

I like the power in the words pronunciation.
And the definition fits well at times.

OLSEN
March 20th, 2003, 02:10 AM
Its my last name..

Oblio
March 20th, 2003, 09:52 AM
I loved the movie (The Point) but forgot about.
About 3-4 years ago i sort of founded a gaming company called "Impale Entertainment".
While i was at E3 some guys looked at our games and said "You make your point across" - and Oblio came back to me then. Impale is no more!
There are lots of Oblio on the net - i didn't care - i used this one mainly to lurk around sites, online games and so on.
Now.. i'm found of my Oblio nick
Oblio

gekitsu
March 20th, 2003, 10:09 AM
beginning gaming, i had to search for some "cool" name to go by and frag friends. as we all know, "cool" changes with time, so i went through a set of nicknames...

Proton
Angelus Nocte
Surgeon (there are friends that still fond this one to be the most fitting nick i had... in my early quake 3 days, i i sported like 80% hit quote with rail gun, taking out people while falling past them, while they were among two or three teammates and stuff)
[PAIN]

i stuck a long time with pain until i found out there are lots of gaming people that call themselves that name. first, i changed it to thereal[PAIN] and later on, decided to translate it. japanese seemed like the fitting tongue.

pain in japanese, i was told is "ita", not so good for a nickname. there also is "itami" and "gekitsu", the first being suffering and the second meaning something like heavy physical pain if i remember right.

kinda liked having a name "without meaning" for most people (hearing it so often, it lost its japanese meaning to me, too) so i stuck with it. i also find it sounds cool.

sorry, nothing creative...

Severith
March 20th, 2003, 10:15 AM
Wow Wow, really nice names and their origins are really fascinating ;)...

I also changed my nickname a few months ago to Severith, before I was called Engel, no idea how it all came out, but I remember that I had a terrible rage about something and yeah hacked the one who made me explode, so ppl called me the Dark Angel. Later it changed to Engel as (E)vil-Angel = Engel, (but it is also german and is the same word for Angel.) I guess pretty funny situations...

Fipse
March 20th, 2003, 11:24 AM
Mhm, quite an old story ....

my real name is "Thorsten Piepenbrink" and even in Germany itīs quite difficult for kids to find a fitting nickname to this. My surname was shortened to Piepe, from this evolved first Pipse, than Fipse. When youīre german this is a quite organic development ;). This sticked with me for over 25 years and fortunately there arenīt many people around (I donīt know one) whoīve got the same nickname.

I just found out that there are many abbrevitions in the american acronym-loving society that are FIPSE, too :)

My nick comes from a french word that depicts a muse. A past friend called me his egerie once and it stuck. Plus it also has a negative meaning such as trampy, etc :D :evilbat:
I used to have Enila for a very short while. Both are extremely tacky and hard to pronounce for anglophones. bah. A name doesn't mean anything does it.
If you see/saw someone named like this on IRC it's probably me !

nova
March 21st, 2003, 02:03 PM
i don't remember exactly, i've had this name for a long time.. when i had to think of a name when joining sijun, i looked around for a name and waited for one to hit me. 'nova' was perfect because it's such an awesome, powerful force expressed in such a small word. besides, it looks cool typed in lowercase :]

My name's Ted...

donkeyslayer
March 21st, 2003, 11:59 PM
well, my friend was being silly and saying things like "if i translate 'bear wrestler' to japanese and then translate it back, it would probably say something like 'donkey slayer'." i dont think he said donkeyslayer, but it is the only thing that could come to mind when i thought about it. funny story, eh? :P

keyth
March 23rd, 2003, 10:09 AM
well, my name is of course keith. but the name "keith" is taken on every single site, mail account,...whatever so...go figure.

so boring:p

i'm still trying to figure out where "bee bop rock steady" came from:confused:

Nimrod
March 23rd, 2003, 03:40 PM
Nimrod: Sumerian Hunter/God/King, name means 'Jaguar Tamer' in Hebrew; supposedly he kept trained jaguars to go coursing with him hunting humans ...

And also of course the big scary sentinel-from-the-future from X-Men...

I just use it as a handle in online games since it is synoymous with tireless hunters, at least to me.

In addition of course it colloquially means dimwitted or stupid and it's so fashionable for artists to be self-deprecating, isn't it?

-=Rosie=-
March 23rd, 2003, 06:32 PM
Im also boring like Keith as Rosie is my real name not sure why I chose to use my real name on this site but I did.

However I mainly use the name Arcadia on the web which came from ancient white wolf book years ago its the place where the changelings live, I think, its been a while.

cotron
March 25th, 2003, 01:29 AM
high school nickname... just one of those things that randomly sticks. I guess it's robotic sounding? who knows.

Balatro
March 25th, 2003, 04:15 AM
Balatro is Latin for destroyer of worlds! MUHAHAA!

Umm... Not really.

Jaku
March 25th, 2003, 05:47 AM
It came from my irc times... my name is Javier Cuesta, merging both -> jacu. I usually change "c"s for "k"s so... jaku

Then someone told me that in japanese culture, jaku is the last part of the tea ceremony that means total calm and the perfect balance with your spirit... or something like that...

Payback
March 25th, 2003, 09:15 AM
I lifted it from a Star Wars-novel... :D

Dengar (one of the bountyhunters in Empire strikes back) was called Payback...

Very very cheesy but then again, pretty cool. ;)

I usually use two other nicks, Mr.Mojo, from Jim Morrison, and Perequin which I made up, but I figured, one has to diversify. :p

Mine comes from my friend's dog. Great boxer who went everywhere with us on surf trips.

BadMange
March 25th, 2003, 11:35 AM
Mine is a two-fold meaning / inside joke. For one, I have curly hair, and I was trying to grow it out one winter. I had a total "Jimmy Page from Zeppelin in '69" style going on, and always caught slack for it. Anyway, I was working as an office clerk and there was a sign outside the office that said "Have a nice day" or something to the effect. Every few days someone (not me) would rearrange the letters to say "Have a bad mange," and it pissed my boss off to no end. He made it his personal mission to catch whoever was doing it. He never did... But we all thought it was hilarious, and they guys started calling me Bad Mange.

Now, I know that the letters in "Have a nice day" cannot spell out "have a bad mange," but I can't remember exactly what it said.

Btw, good thread! some interesting stories...

Later,
-Bad Mange

mcotie
March 25th, 2003, 10:22 PM
Well lets see. Way back in the 1600's this dude named Jean Cote, came over to Canada from France. He had a shit load of kids and they had kids and so on. till the late 1800's then this other dude, Phillipe Cote, who was on his 7th wife came to Louisiana (or was kicked out) and changed his name to Cotie. Then in 1968 this little ragin' Cajun was born. His momma was going to name him Etienne, but his dad said "Control yourself Woman. That sounds like an artists name or somthin'. No strapping, Catholic son of mine is gonna be an artist". So it was done. " we shall call him, Mitchell" . The skys darkened, the windows rattled in their frames, The hospital bed came off of the ground and spun violently. The child raised its head, spewed a stream of split-pea soup, turned its head all the way around and spoke
" Did you see what she did. Your cunning daughter?"...

oh wait wrong movie.

They just named me that and thats it.

Mitch

bigbigtruck
March 26th, 2003, 04:18 PM
My name comes from an anime geek in-joke... a friend said his favorite mech in one show was "the big big truck". I thought the phrase sounded funny, so I yoinked it for my own use.

By the way, this is my first post here. Nice to meet you guys! My art isn't as good as most people who post here, but I am working extra hard to improve, and hope to learn lots. Please be patient with the n00b. ::bow::

exo was only one of the nicknames I've given myself over the years. Others include "Big Shooter," "Goodlookin," "Ultimate Badass," "The Incredable Superman," or just "The Man."

actually it's the latin prefix that means "outside," "Outer" or having to do with the outside.

Hanuka
March 15th, 2004, 10:07 AM
had some other nicknames before like Nofun and
Kurgan. Then I began to play UT and had to chose a Nick. In Germany there's a candy called hanuta (wafers, hazelnuts and chocolate). I though of a funny wordcombination and came up with Hanukahanuta... not really funny, but i was young and dumb and needed the money and stuff...
took it for my e-mail account as well, but it seemed to long for any message boards, so i canged it to hanuka only. nowadays im usually just called nuke.

not too interesting, huh? :P I sometimes name myself Rutger as well, cause Rutger Hauer is such a cool badass. He's almost cooler than freakin Kurgan XD

nikia
March 15th, 2004, 11:58 AM
Mine is a tribute to a horse I once owned. Named Nikia. (meaning wind runner in native language.) He was a very smart and beautiful dark brown quarter horse. He loved to drink beer and would pick the empty beer bottles up by the neck, (out of the beer cases) lilt his head back and drain anything that was left in them. Then he would drop the bottle and pick up another one. After he went through all the bottles in the cases, he would come in the house looking for more. I had to back him out of my kitchen on numerous occasion, which was no easier feat. He barely fit between the counters and the stove and fridge. And he had to do a sharp right angle turn coming in the door. He had to be put down after getting himself tangled in some barbed wire, This was several years ago, and I still miss that horse to this day.

golgari
March 15th, 2004, 01:17 PM
well, it's from that german p&p-game i used to play years ago, dsa... it's the name of the mystic bird who - in service of the god of the dead - carries the souls of those who die over the "neversea" and into heaven... oh well ;)

wayfarer
March 15th, 2004, 02:11 PM
Wow, just read over the last page, but there are cool histories behind the names.

In the past I often changed my nicknames weekly, while playing counterstrike on Lans, or other idiotic stuff.

Then I wanted to pick a name, I really wanted to keep, but nothing really wanted to fit, because I couldnīt say, if this nickname, though fitting at the moment, will also fit me in a few month, because my interests and I myself are changing.

So from the changing aspect I came to wayfarer. a person who always wanders around and changes, not very specialised and in no way exaggerated.
And Iīve stuck to this name now for more than a year.

@LC3 I also want to own a name like blabla blabla, the 3rd..
I envy you!

and dsa was a cool thing, golgari. I donīt remember of the name in the game, but nevertheless. Iīve still got my box in my cupboard!

Renzsu
March 15th, 2004, 02:13 PM

simmi is short for sigmundur, kinda.

RONIN
March 15th, 2004, 08:47 PM
There are a few reasons for mine, when I was in High School my history teacher spent a semester on Feudal Japan and the Samurai. Also, Frank Miller’s book RONIN came out and I thought it was very cool. I was interested and have studied ever since.

But most of all, after I got out of the Navy I lived in San Diego. My Grandfather got Cancer and I came back to Pennsylvania take care of him. My Grandparents pretty much raised me because of all the problems at home. Anything he needed I did my best to provide before he died. He passed away and I will ALWAYS miss him and honor his memory.

treeboy
March 15th, 2004, 09:04 PM
my real name is Forrest (already see a connection eh?) in middle school some friends started calling me treeboy, anyway, it died out, but then in highschool some people (more affectionately) started using it as well (without knowing about the previous uses of the nickname) and this time around i didn't mind it so much, plus it makes a nifty internet handle.

|NTeRN
March 15th, 2004, 09:07 PM

real name is Mat (1 T cause my dad thought it was spelled that way, i like being the only 1 T Mat that i know tho)

Happy Camper
March 15th, 2004, 10:34 PM
I was playing Quake 3 with some friends and I was using a rail gun to 'sniper' people. My friends kept calling me a Camper so I flipped it on them and changed my name to Happy Camper, everybody found it funny and it stuck.

PencilPunx
March 16th, 2004, 12:57 PM
This was the first web forum I'd ever joined, so I was kinda stumped when I had to pick a username. I was listening to Rancid at that moment, and there's a line in one of their songs that goes "P-U-N-X tattooed on my knuckles." I liked it, so I stole it, and since this is an art forum, I stuck "pencil" in front. It was a really half-assed effort and I don't use it much anywhere else but here. I guess it's better than the nicknames I've actually been given by other people though. As my name is Todd, I've been dubbed "Toddy Potty" and "Toddy Bear." I've also recently received "Mountain Douche" due to my love of Mountain Dew, and apparently, my friends belief that I am a giant douche bag.

cartoonfox
March 16th, 2004, 02:07 PM
i drew a cartoon character (check avatart) and liked it. it was a cartoon of a fox,,, and the rest is history :D

Wizard of KOZ
March 16th, 2004, 04:21 PM
My last name is KOZlowsky so people always called my dad Koz, it carried on to me and my brothers.

Wizard of Koz came from playing hockey my brother was a goalie and was having a really good game, so one dude was like "man this guy is the Wizard of KoZ!!!!" it stuck after that and I adopted it into my art persona, just as he adopted it into his hockey persona.

jester
March 16th, 2004, 05:08 PM
Normally I used joker as a nick name. In 1998 when I decided to have my own homepage, www.joker.de was already in use. Thus I looked for something similar and voila: www.jester.de was still free. Since then I use jester as a nick on the web, sometimes as jester1966 oder jester66, since I was born in 1966.

lavhoes
March 17th, 2004, 12:31 AM
Well, I used to go by the name sir lavos, as Lavos was the main bad guy from Chrono Trigger. Then I switched over to Lavos, and my friends started calling me stuff like lovehos and similary mocking names, so when my friends switched their IRC room to a different server and Lavos was already taken, I took up the name lavhoes.

Later I gave it added meaning when I found a line from a poem that fit the name:

Let All Vagrants Heed Over Every Sunset

I'm the only lavhoes on the internet, so the name just kinda stuck.

NoUseFrAName
March 17th, 2004, 01:09 AM
No Use For a Name used to be a cool band...now they got all wussified and I don't really listen to punk anymore anyways......bu alas, I've been using the name online for like 5 or 6 years, and that's how people know me....

ooh, and I've never had it with the 'O' because the first time I was using it was for a game called 'Get The Picture' on what was then, bezerk.com or something....and the game only allowed for 12 characters.....and instead of having to actually think which one I was typing on different forums/games I opted to use it that way for everything......

....now I actually have a cool nickname with my friends irl (ROBCORE!) ever since an awesome trip to Mexico for my bud's bachelor party.....and I'd kinda like to be known as that online, but it'd be too much work to go around requesting that my name be changed on all the forums I'm signed up on......soooooo until I get around to changing it everywhere, I shall reman,

Mine comes from a song on one of the CDs made by my older brother's acapella jazz choir called the Tully Jig. I liked the name and the song, so I used it. Plus I was really tired of the old nickname I'd used for about four years. It was time for a change :)

remember those jooky commercials that sprite would do about 7 years ago? (jooky, jooky, its a party in a can!) THey were sprite commercials making fun of sodas that use stupid gimmicks and stuff instead of good soda to sell. I thought those commercials were badass at once, I was in like 7th grade. I was making a yahoo email and wanted to be known as jooky. it was taken. tried jooky13 because 13 is my lucky number( was born on a friday 13th) but it was taken too. then I somehow came up with jookalot13 and that was not taken. used that for a while, later just left it at jook, since most simply addressed as jook.

I get called more jook than josh at school now, sounds kinda gay in fron of the ladies, but its cool...

March 22nd, 2004, 09:30 AM
as my last name is "fitzinger" my friends used to call me "fitzi" and then in a latin book there was "carnifex", the latin word for "executioner" and the second case of it is "carnifici" so they called me "carnifitzi" some time, and after having stopped i still used that name for my internet thingies(even though others have used it too),bc i like it pretty much and most of all it's meaning.

kind of an odd story.
i used to play an RTS called age of empire with the handle iGoD (the explanation of this name shall remain hidden). and i after i got really good i created a clan called heaven's might, and we were ranked #1 clan on the net at the game and i was #2 player in the game, so after a while everyone who joined wanted me to teach them how to play , aka "train them" and each person i trained joined my clan and they all got good at specific areas of the game , but me of course i was good at it all so few guys told me i should change my name to Heaven. Since the clan was my creation , they members viewed themselves as different parts of my ability. after awhile i switched to solo with the name Hevan. and eventually , i dont really know how i subtracted the n off the end and reversed the entire thing arriving at Aveh. et voila here i stand before you

Sancheezy
March 22nd, 2004, 04:28 PM
Okay here goes. Everywhere else online I go by midget_kicker. The reason for this is one day my friends and I were talking about wife beaters(the shirts) and we decided to name all our other clothing as well. We named shorts "midget kickers". I thought it was really funny and due my strange obsession with midgets, I started to use it as a sign in name everywhere I went.

My friend (Phil Holland) started a guest book online. A lot of people that we knew started coming on to see what the guest book was all about. Phil, one other friend and I would post all kinds of things that we probably shouldn't say. So, we all came up with alias'. well almost all of us(not phil). my alias was Sancho. I can't tell you why I chose that, but anyway, Phil turned me on to this and a couple other sites (eatpoo, sijun, etc.) and sort of in tribute to him I signed up as sancho with a minor alteration becasue I think that calling myself Sancho is kind of cheezy.

There you go. Maybe someday I'll actually post some art on one of these threads instead of just talking. Oh well...

WildSpruceMoose
March 22nd, 2004, 08:50 PM
Man, I've been gone so long.

Well I got my name because to this day I still laugh just remembering that Simpsons episode where Mr.Burns starts his casino.

I believe the line is something to the effect of
Burns:The Spruce Moose, best plane in the world."(work with me here folks)
Smithers: Uhhh I think we should go now.
Burns: Fine...we'll take the spruce moose. Why don't you hop in?! (holding gun)
Smithers: haha very funny sir, now lets.
Burns: I said hop in. *chick*click*

That and moose run rampant up here in Canada, had one run into my room this morning and start mounching on my pillow. So WildSpruceMoose.

In games I've been known and Spruce, Sprucelord, HappySpruce, W.S.M. etc. etc.

Also in grade 11 we had to make coffee table schematics on a program on the computer. Despite the fact that the material the tables would be created from was meaningless as it was on a computer and the texture I chose in the program for the chair was actually pine, I still called it a spruce coffee table. Ahh good times, all good times from my name =)

PhilHolland. Hrm.... Well my name is Philip Holland and since I'm not very creative....
Actually, I had a few online aliases over the years that became rather popular.
I figured that I wanted people to know who I was if they were viewing my artwork or getting comments from me.

I still use my other aliases elsewhere, but when it comes to my passion I've got no reason to hide behind a false name.

Chris J. Anderson!
March 29th, 2004, 06:01 PM
I use Chris J. Anderson because I couldn't figure out a cool name for shite! All the cool names I did have were for my graphic novel, and I didn't want to reveal their names until the book gets on the shelves..whenever that is. So I stuck with my original name and figured what Phil Holland basically said, wanted people to know who I was after they viewed my artwork.

13 for the day i was born(which was also mother's day)
23 the number of death, or somebody once told me. and no i'm not obsessed with it just intrigued.

wallychairmover
April 6th, 2004, 02:39 PM
my name is from a ghost we had in my first game studio job. I was one of the first people they hired when the doors opened and during our first year we spent alot of time in the office, since it was a startup. and we kept having incidents where when people left the office to smoke or pee, or both, they would come back and their chair would be in front of their office door, or moved across the office, etc. sometimes chairs would be moved out from under people as they were standing, and nobody did it as we only had a tiny staff of about 8 people at the time. so i nicknamed our ghost wally chairmover. and now in his honor as the first ghost of my slowly advancing career i hold his name. i'm a ghost geek:D

Ok well ,
My nickname is Skittlebutt

I got my nickname when i was in Highschool 12th grade
It all started when it was lunch time for school and i went to the vending machine and bought myself a bag of Tropical Skittles cause skittles are my favorite candy!
But anywayz, i bought then we went outside in the school parking lot and sat in my friends car. It was summer at the time so it was really hot out that day, so as i sat in the car i was craving my skittles. And i couldn't find them, i was like man...that tha hell did i do with them, and then as i was looking around for them i lifted up my butt from the car seat! And BOOM! there they were melted away in the bag from being undernieth my butt for being in the blazing heat! So my friend yells out HEY its SKITTLEBUTT! so thats what i've been called ever since till this day!

Kinda funny huh! :trouble:

fukifino
April 12th, 2004, 02:56 PM
In IRC I was usually known by my Unreal Tournament name ([CMi]Soul-Crusher or just SC for short...pretentious, I know, but we were a White/Rob Zombie themed clan back in the day)....aaaanyways...hanging out on IRC I used to say "fuck if I know" a lot...and then I started saying it in real life.

So, I was learning to DJ and trying to think of a DJ name (DJ Forest Zachman just doesn't have that ring to it, y'know?) and I had a couple I was tossing around. And me and my friend Megan were driving in my car and for some stupid reason we came up with DJ Fuck If I Know as a joke....but then I was thinking, as a social experiment, if I spelled it "fukifino" would anyone really get it? So I started using it online a bit as a sort of test, to see how many people got it.

I started using it playing Natural Selection (which has built in voice chat) and almost without fail people pronounced it "foo-kee-fee-no" or "foo-kee" for short. Soul-Crusher was a little too lame to be using for anything not related to UT, so I started using fukifino for the art boards and such. And all my friends call me DJ Fukifino (and we still pronounce it "foo-kee-fee-no") when talkin' about parties and such. It's funny, but most people still don't get it right away. I'm pleasantly surprised when people do get it though. :) (Sadly, I tried to register on the di.fm forums but the auto-filters didn't like this nickname. Boooo ;) )

Not every exciting, but there ya go.

sorvan
April 15th, 2004, 09:49 AM

I got sorvan from Sorvanthalas, a character I started to write a book about when I was 18 or so. There are still some parts of it online, but it sucks...
Story (http://www.screatoris.net/indexpages/fantasywriting.html)

Anyways, the name kinda stuck. By now it stands for a thousand things started but never finished. Jack-of-all-trades would probably be a better nickname...

ah well...

Donut Mahoney
April 15th, 2004, 04:11 PM
Donut Mahoney

It's an inside joke. I'm horrible at driving and have been in many accidents(none recorded) since I got my license in June of last year.

The first two happened in two consecutive days about a week after I got my license. The...er...brakes failed(or I failed to apply the brakes, one of the two) and I ran into my teachers car in front of me. He decided to settle it without letting the insurance company know. The next day I ran down a chainlink fence trying to pull out of my friend's driveway. Since I had been in a crash the day befdore I tried fleeing the scenes(did I mention I was stupid?) and was caught. The lady that owned the fence was nice enough to not involve the insurance company on this one either.

Later on in my driving career I was pulling out of my cousin's long driveway and got a little too close to the house and started scraping against it and took off a water faucet that no matter what I tried, wouldn't stop spraying.

I've pulled onto a one way street the wrong way. My friend was the passenger and just cvalmly said "I think we're gonig the wrong way." I calmly agreed. He then calmly added "maybe we should turn around" and i again calmly agreed. So as I pulled into the exit a car zooms right passed me. It was cool.

Ok, this is all very intersting, but how does it relate to Donut Mahoney? Well that's all just backstory to my nickname...

it was a rainy night. I was driving my car behind my friends car. He had no passengers and I had his brother(15 yrs old) in my car. We went down a windy hill and as I was turning my car hit a water patch in the road and the breaks failed(i did not fail to apply them this time). So i began to spin...do "donuts." We ended up doing somethign between a 900 and a 1080 degree spin. My passenger starts to freak out during it just repeating the wrods "Oh shit...oh shit...OH SHIT!" AS we neared the 720 degree spin we hit a curb and skidded across a bridge rail, miraculously not damaging it. we then spun a few more times and ended up sideways on the road. My friend driving in front of me pulled into someone driveway and came back to see if there were any survivors. When he pulled up next to us, I got out of the car and raised my arms in triumph. I aided my passenger in getting out(I guess he had mental shock). We looked around to see if anybody witnessed it and luckily nobody did so we got ni cars and went to my friends house. That's how Donut came to be. My friend in the other car told me that as he looked in the rear view mirror all he saw was headlights keep flashing as it spun.

As we talked about it at my friends house, his brother said that i had a really smooth look on my face during the spins. He said I was just leaning back in the seat with one hand on the wheel and grinning from ear to ear. I'm the type of person that doesnt like to get myself in deadly situations, but if i accidentally do, I'll enjoy every second of it. My calmness during the accident made me think of the word mahoney for some reason(no idea why), thus Donut Mahoney.

No I don't do drugs or drink alcohol. I just am a terrible driver on my own.

jarvis2824
April 15th, 2004, 05:37 PM
My real name is Chris Jabas. Somehow back in 10th grade, a buddy of mine in the chess club bastardizied the pronunciation and called me "Jarvis." It has stuck ever since much to my consternation. Shortly after that we all created Yahoo! email accounts so that we could practice for the club by playing chess across the net. Didn't want to put my real name out there at that point and "Jarvis" was taken, so I added my birthday bacwards to the end of it... hence jarvis2824.

Back in the day ... well, not really the day ... there was a band called The Nerve Agetns, which I still love. They all had pretty cool names, like Eric Ozene, and Andy Outbreak (who still drums for a band named The Distillers). As a joke one day, I stuck Outbreak at the end of my first name. I liked the way it sounded. Completely unoriginal, but eh. I try and think of it as a homage to the Nerve Agents.

WoadWarrior
May 17th, 2004, 03:35 AM
The name WoadWarrior well I was given it,
I was working on the new King Arthur film as an action extra, they painted me black & blue gave me a realy long mohawk put me in leathers and gave me a big metal sword and tiny shield. We fought for a month or so against heavy armoured Saxons. There was 130 there abouts for the amount of Woads and 500 saxons , but there was about 100 fighting professional saxons and 400 saxon standarounds.

Woad is the name of the plant i think the Pictish people dyed thire skin with it was an anticeptic against cuts, it oxydizes in to blue over time + it would stay on for weeks. (but the stuff they had was food dye which was hard to get off, during the weekends i was slightly blue)

When I originally created my website it had a fictional sci-fi theme. I was a member of a futuristic government organization called the Star League. As a member of the league I was given web space in the star league hall of records (no longer called the internet) My web space was used to document my artwork. It was all just a fun way of showcasing my work without being so serious. I changed the look and feel of the site completely last year because no one was taking me seriously. However I did keep the site name.

I am Eric. Member of the United Nations Star League.

Thank GOD!! I get a chance to explain my stupid username! I HATE it!

The only reason I stick with it is because it's the stupid name I used for my site (should have spent more time thinking about it) an I just wanna keep the connection.

Originally, I called myself Strider on another website BEFORE the movies came out... it was actually pretty cool then. Suddenly along comes Peter and Viggo and make me sound like some kinda fanboy geek.

The reason I added the 'dark' is because I love to walk at night. Darkstrider... get it? That's when I get my best ideas. Oh, well. Don't be surprized if I change it soon....

Chingwa is Cantonese for frog. My wife speaks cantonese, and I like frogs (who the hell doesn't?!) So.... there it is. :D

quite simple: my last name is Cunningham, if you breakit up, you get cunning ham. so i thought: sly bacon! but it sounds a little dorky, so I have it as just "Sly" i was actually impressed by the fact that that no one else has taken the username, wich would avoid me from adding letters and stuff.;)

It's just my name.

I kinda think it's pointless to network with an assumed identity. ;)

Actually, I'm not nearly clever enough to come up with a sparkly handle and remember it from one day to the next.

My name is a really old randomly generated gamespy name.. "dakosquash" I used to play Rainbow Six on zone.com and it would get glitchy everynow and again and it said my name was taken. So I just changed it to scwash. Exciting...

Blackwell is the name of a very cool character from William Gibson's "Idoru."

Great book - I highly recommend it.
