this isn't exactly a finished piece, as its a page for a comic i'm working on and i havent add the words yet... but its more or less what i wanted. i had help from my friend for the background, tried using brushes but couldnt bring out the effect, in the end he "filtered" the background out for me. PS7 and no references. C&C would be most appreciated

I like the general simplicity of it, though I agree it feels a little bland, I think that what would give it a more finished look is possibly more definition of the character outline. The piece already reminds me for some reason of the stuff atwww.derekhess.com (http://www.derekhess.com)

I think taking it even a little further in this direction would finish it off (for me at least :)

i think the filters r too obvious, need to try more of ps filter....any way good attempt...but the idea u try to do shld put it more simple to make it more like a comic page...:bash: :D

im not sure why but i really like this alot. the dark colours and the complementary colours are great. plus that little character is cool and simple

well, i've touched up on certain parts of the pic, cleaning up those mad scribbly lines....but its still pretty much a work in progress....think i've posted it in the wrong forum:bash:

LC3--> I'm not sure what you mean by bland...i was aiming for a simple splash page.

OmniDose-->erm...i've never heard of derek hess before, but his lineart is definitely a lot cleaner than mine

stylomilo--> you should know i rarely use filters..haha...when am i gonna see your stuff here?
