Pity. It was a marvelous vase. From the marvelous looks of it :) Maybe giving out the painting to the owner's vase might be a good idea to get forgiven ? lol
The lower part of the cloth folds are amazing. All the colour used...
What medium(s) ?

Kaini, that cloth is stunning. I've always noticed in your still lifes that you can render the cloth so beauitfully. Nice work bud.

yeah im gonna have to concur with blackhawk, that fabric is amazing.
the only thing that bugs me about it though is that vibrant yellow with no purple to set it off. it could be a stain in the fabric... but still, i think some purple/ish compliment would help balance that yellow.
'could be the photo too ;)
what was your working time on this? how big is the painting?

holy cow I can't even believe it...and you are like 21...so inspiring...please keep posting your stuff cause it lights a fire in my belly. You are fantastic!
Couple questions from a newbie...Before you do the still life do you sketch out everything with vine charcoal...etc... What's your method for setting up for the actual painting. Also what palette colors are you using. Sorry one more...what degree do you dilute your paints with turp, etc...
Kaini I would love to have a very very specific step by step of one of your paintings. That would benefit all of us greatly I think. I don't know if that's possible but it would be AWESOME. You rock man...I can't get over it...fantastic painting.

Jason, Egerie, DragonGX, Tarwater, Blackhawk thank You guys !!
-Moose: yeah that yellow part got a bit too prominent after the scan. I already tried to push the colours as much as possible(it was nearly completely grey in the original).
-Gekitsu: haha, I drink only Guiness and Kilkenny but lots of it muahaha :chug:
-MCM: The hardest part in this painting was to do an accurate sketch, accurate ellipses and symmetry, most concentration went there. Everything else is just mechanic look/paint, compare values to original etc. ,
My palette: zinkwhite, cadmium yellow, yellow ochre, burnt sienna, carmine red, phtalo green, terre-verte green, parisian blue, ultramarine, coelinblue, burnt umber, vandyck, ivory black. (I wish I knew how to use vandyck and black)
I use turps only for a prime coat, and to clean my brushes :)
-Jester: don't forget the beer :D
-Daarken: Oh yeah ? And you're a..a pastel- !! :cyclops:

Oh Oh the noob is posting a lot today (well.. twice)
I really really like this. I like the cloth and the vase and the BG. But what I like the most is the broken part. It wouldn't have been near as interesting if the vase had been whole. (err.. how did you get it if it wasn't yours anyhoo?)
