Ateliers/museums/etc to check out in north midwest/east?

I'm currently driving out from the east coast to check out three possible ateliers (Pantura, Lack, and what used to be Angel) and while I'm kinda rushed on my way out, on the trip back I'll have time for a more flexible schedule. So, does anyone have anything they think is an absolute must-see in the northern half of the country? I'm only going as far west as SD, so suggestions in the Chicago/New York/etc area would be awesome.

It'd be cool if there was something art related, but I'm open to ideas. :yayca:

Well, you've got the Art student League of New York to start. Try doing a search engine query with the words "Art Student League" and see what you get. I'd say more, but lack of interest compells me not to. :dur:
