problem starting painter IX

ok i don't own the full version, i am using the evaluation version. Since "successfully' installing the program i have yet to get it to open up properly, and it's driving me mad.
(i just bought a new tablet)

So when i launch the program, immediately after the painter splash screen dissapears, it's "not responding". Even more strange when i look in Task Mangler, it shows 2 instances of Corel Painter IX.exe "not responding'.

I've looked around a bit, but no one has described this issue, or perhaps i just missed it.

can anyone shed some light please?

hey thx in advance, but the answer is prolly somewhere in a faq.
got some advice to hold shift to reset the defaults and this fixed it. thx anyways. close this thread if you like.
