Here's a bit of fanart I started to work on over the weekend in photoshop 6. I used reference for the 'Batman Begins' version of each character and other photos of Katie Holmes. Still a little rough around the edges..

Looks pretty finished to me, if it's comic styled art.

Thanks, JERI.
I wonder though if the pencil that shows throughout keeps it from looking finished.

wow, really great. (also shows great restraint not to post in the finished section but to come here first for crits! :)
here's how you can bump it up a notch.
for batman:
1. great rendering on the cowl. however i would add in more warms to what skin we do see of his.
2. his right arm is off.
a. his forearm is too long
b. his hand looks like it's try to grab her boob.
3. his cape on his right side is very awkward the way it falls...make it more fluid like the other side.
for the girl:
1. great job on her hand and the light in her hair.
2. you're failing on her leg...it's too rushed in...define the bottom of her jacket more clearly, then redraw the leg (it it would be seen at all from this angle)
for scarecrow:
1. good pose
2. his costume has almost NO design to it. go do some good concepting and rework it...it's the most visually boring element in the entire frame and we're supposed to fear him...so give us something to react to!
2b. the smoke effects need help. there's a great cloud painting tutorial at: http://www.androidblues.com/cloudtut.html
i think use of this w/ transparency layers could render some much more interesting forms
the city
1. give us more than one value for the entire skyline.
overall lighthing
1. it looks like it's about 11 in the morning and we're being attacked. a little playing w/ a layer on top and some levels adjustments in PS and this thing would be GOLD.
seriously, this is a great piece and you should be very happy w/ it...but you can def bring it up to a very very good looking image. i hope i didn't bore you. PM me when you make the updated version and post it...would love to see how you handle this.
much luck and respect

Yeah, Apollo - I knew it really wasn't finished. So, restraint didn't keep me from putting it in the finished section, it was the reality of it.
You spent some quality time on a great critique. You must have truly thought it was worthy. I appreciate that. :^^:
Now some excuses - cause that's all Ive got right now:
A friend pointed out that I put most of my effort into the girl and I agree she is the most finished of the whole piece. About her leg (and her jacket for that matter) - she's waring a trench coat here, so her leg is completely covered. There's a belt loop and belt at her waist and below that is a pocket and the the end of the coat is below frame. It seems clear to me, but it may read differently to you.
The Scarecrow I spent the least amount of time on so far, but actually his costume was rather bland in film and in the ref I used. A grey, long sleeve, straight jacket looking thing. I got lazy really.
Batman you pretty much hit the mark. His right arm always bothered me. And his hand is a bit stiff. His fingers should at least be curled around the girls fingers. And right side of the cape isn't very elegant that's true.
The city skyline was thrown in at the last minute. Originally I was going to do a maze of scaffolding in the BG. But opted for a flat silhouette in tradition of comic simplicity. A little leveling would definately help put in more of a dusk setting. 11am is way too early in my mind.
The dust cloud coming from the hand of the scarecrow for now, is mostly pencil swirls and the bottom half of a gradient from the violet sky down to a pale yellow ( i never work on a blank white canvas). Just for starters and to give it some interest in the meantime I threw in a few swirls of dissolved airbrush strokes until I use my effects knowledge to finish it up.
So, overall ApolloNuevo, you've handed out a nice list of things for me to consider - some are spot on and couple are a matter of taste.
Thanks again.
