I am a newbie to the post here and only one year on painter. I am a photographer and the question I have is if anyone can tell me how to clone more detail into a painting that I have finished. Is there a way I can clone from the original again? I have tried mounting the painting and using the original as the clone source but for whatevr reason it doesnt pick it up. What am I missing?

Hi,

Launch Painter and restore all brush variants to their default state.

Open the original image (photo).

Open your working image (painting).

In the File menu, choose Clone Source and, in the flyout menu, check the file name of the original image (photo) to tell Painter to take color information from that image when you paint on your working image.

Choose a brush variant and, in the Colors palette, make sure the Clone Color icon (rubber stamp) is depressed or check the Clone Color box, whichever Painter version you're using.

Paint in the details you want.

If you have a problem painting on a Layer, make sure the Preserve Transparency box is not checked.

Good luck!
