Finally finished? Well, not quite, nothing ever is.

This is a design from my DeamonGate universe which I plan to use for comics and games. I first designed the deamon centaur in 97 but this one deviates some from the original design. I started the painting a while back (tdome 3) but never got around to work on it more.

It's really supposed to look like on this acrylic version from 98:

So I'm not sure if I'm gonna change the new one or make another.

I had to darken it cuz I think my old monitor was a bit dark. Nasty strokes suddenly appeared in the darks on a lot of paintings I did on the old monitor...

When the concept is in your head it is often fluctuating and undefined, from several angles at once. I think atleast that I managed to paint the skincolor in a rather undefined way. I used blue sky speculars to hide some of the 'local color' (I think the raw surface color is called that in artsy-fartsy terms).

Nice one, I've told you before I like this. How about some contrast, or rather, a little more dark darks? There's a lot of greys... just a thought.

the way you give depth to the character by toning down the tail is awsome, guess I just learned a new trick :D

We were talking the other night about your paintings being too light? I think that maybe this one is. Also, the sword has a few problems. Frist of all, i don't think he would be holding it like that. It seems kinda akward. Second, it really distracts my eye. It pops out too much.

But other then that i can't stop looking at it. Super work mr. promo!

Altered the sword, horn on the head and back. I don't dare to darken it more cuz the BG is white.

cool, i like the values. and even though it's just a concept it might be nice to see it with a setting of some kind.

ah prom, finally worked on this one a bit more. looks good! can be better, but eh, when are we really satisfied, right? the new sword looks much better, and i'd adress the handle of it being a bit long (almost half of the blade lenght), though that isn't that much of a crit. also, the reflected light on the 'face' kills the structure. the whole face is quite wonky imho, at least compared to the rest

cheers

Cool design... I can honestly say he looks menacing... but how does he stand on pointy feet?
