I'm really enjoying the imagery and moods you're creating here! But, in some of them I'm having a hard time creating a feeling of deep space. In Veneratium, that large dark building that splits the canvas 50/50 is killing the depth. The organic castle behind it isn't overlapped, so it's hard to tell how it relates to the dark wall in perspective. I think part of the problem in images like Antipidal Evolution and Dark Efflugence is that you keep it too evenly warm or too evenly cool. Traditional atmospheric pespective has things like mountains move to blue/purple as the intervening air refracts/diffuses light.
post some of these in the environments thread in this forum, there are some very talented people there who will better be able to help you than me.

actually, I did and got nein responce.
That thread is flooded with too many brilliant works.
yees... need to work on depth some more.
Lesse... I could add more lights to the dark building in Veneratium, perchaps that is the answer?

Great mood and rendering. The environments and lighting are really well done. Reminds me a lot of Luis Royo's work. Love the ideas too...really out there. I'm not really feeling the figures on the second one though. I know they're supposed to be alien like and bizarre, but they just don't feel ... anatomically they feel...wonky, for lack of a better word. Just short of being really phenominal.

Beautiful work! I especially like Metagalactic Aurora, reminds me of a dream I had. Twice.
The style is so different, looks very urban and real and in a way is totally different. I suppose the colors can use a bit of work, but then again, they serve their purpose well enough as it is.

You know, I've been looking at these a bit more, and I noticed that, compositionally, a couple of them have elements that lead the eye right off the page. Like Metagalactic Aurora, probably my favorite one...but *everything* tells you to "please exit this painting to the left as soon as possible"...there are lines all launching the viewer there, and even the main figure is looking off in that direction.
Caliginous Colossus is almost an offender in this reguard too, althought Colossus' arms help to contain it somewhat.
I think, compositionally, Antipidal Evolution is one of the stronger ones. It has that sense of scall that Colossus has, but manages to incorporate a sort of circular flow around the picture.
Anyways, just thought I'd throw that out there for thought. :)

those are quite nice conceptually.. but i think they would greatly benefit from non-monochromatic color schemes and better rendering.. good ideas though, keep it up.

Conceptually, these are great peices, you also did a wonderful job render them. Some of the perspective seems off on a few, especially when you add the characters in. I agree with what everyone has said so far.

There are realy amasing stuff here. I like most: Proposition and Antipidal Evolution. For me they have some realy strong Dark SF feeling. You done this work for somebody or for your pleasure? Just curious.

The Great Deluge is my favorite! Great job, you've really got your own distinct style. That's always a good sign :-)

I like your lighting. But I think your putting too much into the images (far too busy) and the composition is often not as good as it could be. In 'Proposition' for example I can't see the purpose of the tripod (aliens?) except that they are 'fluff'. The focus of the picture is the two figures in the chairs and would work far better if you just cropped it above the two characters heads.
In 'Starcatchers' I didn't even notice the figure until I looked at it a 3rd time as it is lost in the star field.

haha, thanks.
The tripods are there to add to the atmosphere. Without them it would be just a boring train conversation. With them, you see that "omg, they took over", and not just. "hmm, a robot on a train".
Here's a version with just the figures, just for your enjoyment:

Also, you're not the only one. Almost everybody finds the man in starcatchers after the 3rd try. He supposed to be submerged in the environment, symbolic of it overpowering him. Think - Romanticism.
now what did u use on these?
Photoshop CS for the most stuff, Painter 9 for the clouds.
