Found an interesting article on polydactylism. I was always curious (after I saw some cats at an animal shelter that exhibited these weird appendages) about what causes this oddity. Apparently not odd at all. It seems to be a naturally occuring genetic trait. 10 toes and 10 fingers might actually be the odd combination!

Imagine a piano piece written for a 12 fingered man? ;)

This is by far the most scary deformation of organisms ive ever seen in my entire life. The Polydactylismic Person at the bottom of the report looks like a person of my nightmares O.o I surely will use this influence in some drawings :)

They look like the splash screen for Painter 9!

I've had polydactyle cats, I know many people who have (I seem to be in an area were there's a lot.) They are so cute.

funny you shouuld mention this. when i was born i had an extra thumb on my left hand, but i had it removed as a baby. all i have now is a tiny scar below my thumb. its strange though i only had it one the left hand not on the right.

We have a kitty that we adopted from a friend who has 6 toes on each foot. Fittingly, her name is Toe-Toe :tihi:

Most times the extra digits doesn't work. But hey I know a few friends with extra thumbs and they are daaaamn cool folks. We had tonnes of fun freaking out other people with some hairbrained ideas. A lot of them don't feel abnormal, they feel special.

My cat is a polydactly, and she's also an exact copy of our old cat Mojo. Well in the looks dept. anyway,

one of my cats has multiple extra toes, too, the "thumb" variation for her front feet. I can always hear her coming because some of her extra claws aren't retractable and click on the floor.

regarding a 12-finger pianist, that concept was covered in the movie GATTACA

Yes that was the reference! Love that movie.
