WOW!!

Looks great! I love medieval-type movies, especially those crappy old 80's sword & sorcery ones, like Ladyhawke.

it looks like the TV 2 part film that appeared here in germany like a year ago

I am not sure about the date because I did not watch it really (zapped around).
I just heared from friends that the story was changed and the effects were horrible (the trailer seems to have all the good parts).

noone who saw it liked it, it looked like a "shitty german wannabe hollywood production"
The are probably just trying to get some money because they failed here.
I would not be excited (except if the scenes that were in the trailer were the only one that they left and reworked everything else)

I'd see it. And she's fuckin' cute, but that title has to go. What the hell kind of word is Nibelungs? But yeah, it looks cool.

hmmm. . . .i think it's a story from german mythology.

i think this movie could go either way.

It would probably be alot cooler if they didn't show half (or more) of the awesome parts during the trailer. People falling over an ice waterfall. A man dueling a dragon (stabbing him and evading a bite). People dueling in front of an army. An army invading a castle. I'm sure with all the cool footage in that movie, they could make an awesome trailer without GIVING ALMOST THE WHOLE DAMN THING AWAY!

How is that stuff supposed to be dramatic once you see it in the theatre?!

Yeah, i was very excited 'til i saw the trailer.
I read the whole nibelungs' saga when i was a kid, so i expected more. Not a "i can watch it in Hallmark Channel" movie.

hmm other than giving away too much of the dragon fight it looks reallly damn nice. somehow not as polished as other movies nowadays-which i like very much.
also, for being a trailer, this things is very well cut-going back and forth between the dragon fight and the waterfall works very well. it's not your "usual" trailer, where everything is displayed as fast as possible in an mtv fashion with cheesy taglines spoken by man with deep voice. i'm pleasantly surprised at the look of it. music sounds good also.makes me curious.
hopefully the real movie will be as good. though i can't compare because i haven't read the books yet.

Yeah, that's gotta be a made-for-TV movie. From the poor production values, shoddy acting (although I love Kristanna Loken, she's not exactly Oscar material), to bragging about the visual effects team in the trailer, to how hard they're trying to mimic the look and feel (and name) of LOTR, there's no doubt.

Luckily, I love made-for-TV movies.

Ring of Nibelung was a 14 hour Opera by Richard Wagner. Story of Sigfried and Brunhilde is part of the Opera.

Basically it revolved around a Ring that was made by the Night Dwarves (Nibelungen) and the Ring was cursed and caused strife and conflict through its power over the possessor, except the one who made it of course (Sound familiar yet?).

This Opera premiered in 1875.

as far as the movie... I might go see it.

MuffinMan, exactly. Is it just me or is that Kristanna Loken? How many more EXT. BATTLEGROUND - DAY two armies line up against one another and compare wit before the battle* scenes are they going to shuv down our throats?

This is a TBS Superstation special at best.
