Wow, just looked through your sketchbook and it's fantastic. I like your style with females. Did you use references on the faces, or is all out of your head?

Quinster
June 12th, 2005, 06:23 PM
WOw, very nice thread! I especially like the way you draw faces. The women are very femmine looking, and often very sexually oritented :perv:

Punchy
June 13th, 2005, 03:55 PM
Quinster: thanks dude. I do enjoy drawing the ladies=)

Sara-San : Thanks! a lot of the poses are from reference but the faces are out of my head. I can't capture a likeness to save my life.

clogik : will do.

Displaced : Thanks!

tokidokizenzen : I've always enjoyed seeing sketches over finished pieces myself.

cthomp : yeah, I suck with hands. I used to just draw people with all there hands in there pockets=)

I love these pics, who is this hot chick from the photo refs. I have one crit, you should take refs of different kinds of people. You seem to have had this chick from the get go.

Darktwin
June 18th, 2005, 12:09 PM
I really like your sketch quality and the facial expressions of your characters, I would agree with munkcee on doing more variety of characters. I would try mixing up the ethnicity of your women, maybe asian, indian, african features as examples(those examples are general, but you get the idea). please keep posting

Punchy
June 19th, 2005, 07:11 PM
Darktwin : agreed! I could use a lot more variety in my sketches.

munkcee branes : hehe, well when I use photo ref its usually for the pose, I tend to just make the faces up...which obviously results in a lack of variety. doh.

Farvus : thanks! the girl with the gun is my wife with an airsoft pistol=) More posts coming up!

Smitherines
June 20th, 2005, 06:11 AM
I really wouldn't consider any of these as porn, some are a bit sexual, but nothing hard core. I really dig your sketches punchy, great job.

Punchy
June 20th, 2005, 03:36 PM
Smitherines : thanks dude, I'm looking forward to seeing more stuff from you as well.

Sems : lol, yeah I due tend to draw to much porn, though I tried to only post the less offensive sketches. I could see how the first couple of posts set a theme, even if the rest of the work is less pornographic in nature. Glad you liked some of the work. Anything piece that you like better than the others?

You have some really inspirational stuff. I just recently (today) found this site and this forum and I must say that the level of art I find here is amazing. Your work has a liveliness and vigor to it which makes me feel good watching it, and while I like the shape of the female body as much as the other guy, it is the faces of your girls ( 'specially the noses) which I think stands out. Keep up the good work, I will come back for more :)

This is one of the best threads I have come across in a while. Really nice consistant style. You aren't afraid to use reference materials. Very clean linework. Nice line weight where you need it. I love the way you do your expressions.

coloring

someone asked me how I color, so I did a tutorial for em. I'm really bad with color and value at the same time. No, really bad. Like everything looks like an omlette bad. El Coro showed me this technique and its really helped me while I try to get better at color and value at the same time (ugh). Maybe this will help someone else, or maybe you'll just openly mock my color handicap. I can hear the mocking. damn. oh well.

I am a big fan of your artwork. Lot of really good flow. Love your expressions. Where do you get you ideas for you characters position. Do you do a lot of loose sketches til you get something you like?

Are there other artists that inspire you? If so, who?

Just curious. Thanks

Punchy
October 23rd, 2005, 03:59 AM
metroeast : Hey, sorry for the long delay in response. I'm glad you are enjoying my work. Hmm, the poses....I sketch a lot from clothing ads, random images I come upon, when I get a chance from real life, tv, dvds, and porn. when I do just something out of my head its usually pulling from when I was sketching from reference in someway. its all kind of a mixed bag. I find if I draw to much just from my head I end up drawing the same poses over and over by accident. doh.

Artists I like? I like way to many to name. A lot of comic book guys. I read way to many comics for my own good^_^

REally great stuff, I like the werewolf like hell! One of my other faves is the "el coro" metod chick, Id love to see some more of that, I think that style suits your lines more than the ultra smooth digi stuff, although its great awsell, like the gorilla from plan of the apes (?) Dirty it up a bit!

There are a lot of people you draw in an anime/manga feel, very few pull it off however. You on the otherhand are really good at it. I liked your sketchbook. I could definately see your anatomy and drawing skills improving as the thread goes along. I can't wait to see more. Besides I gotta respect anybody who apparently likes Battlestar Galactica, Gatchaman (g-force) & GI Joe. (Firefly is one of my favorites!) Keep up the good work! :teeth:

well I got myself one of those travel water color sets. Its kinda cool, the water sits in the brushes handle. I've never really done water color before so its been fun experimenting with it. Its shocking how quick these go. I did all 4 of these while waiting on stuff to build at work. fun fun. I'm also suprised at the color range I can get from the 8 colors it has in it.

anyways.

my first watercolor stuff. its kinda a pain to get it to scan correctly. its so faint at times.

yes - really nice watercolours. nice poses as well (especiially the first couple of posts).. question - are these so saturated in paper as well or is that because you have to boost the contrast when you scan them?

keep it up man

Lord Dubu : lol, er...thanks! I dig yous sketchbook by way. some cool stuff.

tensai : Thanks!! I have a heck of a time trying to get these to scan with any kind of accuracy on my scanner. Spent a while fideling with it, alas no go. so they are kinda blown out and saturated. doh! ^___^

nother one from this evening. I picked up a "landscape" pad, but I'm using it so its all tall. hehehe. what a rebel.

the jaw makes her face abit too boy-ish. otherwise...nice one:)
for some odd reason the design reminds me of ghost in the shell: standalone complex.

Serving Suggestion: A cool thing you might like to try after scanning those watercolour pics in is using the Photoshop 'Cutout' Filter.

Nice updates punchy! Is it possible for you to make a little process thing? I'm really interested in how you work with water colour (I'm also curious what that paint brush with plastic container body thing do). Thanks you in advance, sorry if I'm asking for too much.

Lots of cute characters, I love the girls with guns :P You've really got something going with the water coloring. Have you seen GoldSeven's work? She paints in greyscale watercoloring cg's it digitally, very interesting. I was just thinking that could be something to try with the medium.

CamSyko : cool idea! thanks! always funning when you find a quick easy thing like that. ^___^

sabe2003 : Thanks! She kinda changed a lot from the start of the sketch. heheh

rayk : Hey dude, No problem, I'd love to do that. Though theres not much to see process wise in the water colors. I'll take some photos of the stages next time I do one.

Matsign : Thanks for the tip! I tend to paint digital in greyscale and then color over it. never thought to do that in watercolor. cool idea.

well heres a quick one from this evening. you'll never guess what was on tv. hahahah some guys watch porn when the wife is out, I end up watching cartoons and kids tv. shhhhh^____^

the black and white one has significant awesomeness... the colors leave something to be desired. I'd say the b&w could be a finished piece and leave it alone, but that's one man's opinion.
