I KNOW about saveloomis.org and fineart.sk

I HAVE downloaded the PDF a long time ago, which was deleted...(doh!)

Now I want to download it again so I can go and print myself a nice copy (spiral bounded of course!) at Kinkos ;)
Unfortunately I can't find the PDF file anywhere online!
Does anybody have a link? :rendered:

thanks in advance :yayca:

crap i just downloaded this three days ago. checked my download manager and it gives me this (http://www.rickbonilla.com/images/temp/fdw.pdf), but i checked and somehow it doesnt work.

looking where i found the original link..
hang on.

edit: checked it. its was the same link and its definitely pulled.
i got the link from this (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=966&highlight=loomis+books) thread. i got it from post number 33, but as i said, its pulled. maybe you could try some of the other links in there.

if all else fails i could mail it to you. im on slowband though so its gonna take 4 or 5 hours, so please check that thread first.

So, you're looking for information on
How to draw the figure, by
Andrew Loomis, but the sources you have aren't
Real? Well,
Every artist should have this great
Asset to the figure, as it will help you reach the
Zenith of your
Artistic abilities.

Otherwise, you probably won't be as well
Read up on the figure.

Andrew seems to have the figure down and
Really knows where
Everything goes.
See between the lines and this will make sense...

allof these loomis books are classics that are no longer available but still so relevant. im seriously amazed about the quality compared to a lot of the newer how to draw books out there. i like saveloomisorg but why not offer the whole book as one download instead of having people go through all the pages one by one.

hosting it is probably gonna kill anybodies bandwidth though. thats why i thought maybe the people who have websites could take turns hosting it? like a couple of weeks etc. i could defenitely do that. if we'd have 10 peeps willing to do that we could put a sticky in this section and everybody would always be able to get their hands on them..

anyway denart, if the mailing fails i could just upload figure drawing to my site for a couple of days.

I have all the loomis books, including the fantastic eye of the painter book on pdf.

I dont however have a website to host them, so email or direct transfer thru msn or somethings the only way I can transfer them.

Yeah ditto to what Joel Noel said. At one point someone suggested having CA host the books, since they are so frequently requested, and people run into the problem you are having very often. I wonder if that's still possible. Maybe contact and admin to see if they can get hosted. Also, when I was looking for a couple of the books, I searched on google and ended up finding a website of a comic artist who said he had them all. I emailed him up and he uploaded them to his webspacefor a week so I good grab it. Try looking on google : )

i have all of them as well.

for now, you can download it from my site (http://www.lokjansen.com/temp/loomisfiguredrawing.pdf) cause i thought lets get it over with...
you can download it this weekend. after that im taking it down.

the thing is, if we find 10 peeps who want to co-host, then we can roulate and share the bandwidth problem. keep them up in this section with a sticky.

Good on you Tensai!

Anyone who misses out could try this Russian site:

http://www.superidea.ru/intel/risuy.htm

Not the first (Ohio) link which is dead, but the second, five-part option.
I just checked the first part: it works and it is the PDF.

An easy medium-term solution would be to upload all the PDFs on rapidshare (http://rapidshare.de). But first, if all the links in the Western World really have just been pulled, is there a REASON?

I'm rather baffled as to why whoever owns the copyrights doesn't get these reprinted, maybe put all the books into a compilation or something, the demand is obviously there.

I know they've been floating about on the web for ages but I'm sure an awful lot of people would happily fork out for a good quality reprint..

All the Loomis books are easily found on some P2P networks---along with most of Hogarth's books and some other resources I ran across that I didn't know existed (there's an anatomy text in Spanish hanging around there with GREAT illustrations---one in German too---can't read the text, myself, but the muscles and forms are always universal)

Anyway---I've seen all the Loomis books on Emule....

http://www.emule-project.net/home/perl/general.cgi?l=1

If you just go there, download and install the program, even with a slow connection, you'll eventually get it. Might take a few days, but it's always there no problems.

denart - your welcome man.

i have to say, all the bittorrentsp2pemule options sound great but its not my thing though. im not connected all the time and im sure it works great but i just think it would be really good to have a permanent download place going right here on CA.org. all the loomis books. pdf. one place. one click. bam.

im saying if peeps would like to set this up lets go. im not going to host continuously all of them. just a few guys with a site taking turns is all it takes.

loomis comes up in soo many different threads here its ridiculous.
we put the pdfs with a sticky in this section. and a discussion of the loomis techniques in another. if you want to talk about some pages or ideas then we do that there. its basic and advanced stuff in there, but almost all of it is essential.

so - post here if you have a site and wouldnt mind taking turns hosting some of these. lets see if we can get this done.

Thanks for the download tensai.

Been trying to upload it to my web-space too, but they must cap the file size as it cuts out consistently at about 8MB.

its the first time I've seen this book - and its great, nothing like it around at the moment that I've been able to find.

thanks again

Martin

Look, unless the book has magicaly became unaviable, the im sure it has to be on sale somewhere. I mean, i bought it in a bookstore in Montevideo (Uruguay, third world, last place you could expecto to find this book) just two years ago.
If i got it HERE, then you should be able to geti it There (are you in the first world?). Anyway, you are an artist, you have to know some one who has it: borrow it from then and make a some copys.

You'd think so, wouldn't you? Unfortunately, while a Spanish and German translation are available, it has been out of print in English since the mid-80's. Why? Nobody seems to know. Used copies are readily available, but prices start around $75 and go up very quickly from there.

JoelNoel, do you have Eye of the Painter and the Elements of Beauty in color? because at saveloomis.org there is a version but in black and white.

If you have it in color, can I please ask you for a copy of the file?

my eye of the painter is black and white as well...

so if anyone has it in color, send it to me and i'll host it...

by the way, i plan on hosting these things for as long as possible...

all day, every day, all the time

if there are any missing, or any versions you have that are better, send them to me, and i'll host them
