hey all, this is really just a test to figure out if i can post properly. im doing a project at my school and would like some feedback if anybody has the time.

i'm doing the chinese zodiac vs. the western one. heres my first attempt. i got leo vs, the year of the snake, i would also like to know if my line work would turn out ok digitally colored or any tips on doing things like that, my coloring style is still pretty shifty when it comes to digital stuff and any help would be muchly appreciated.

will i have to redraw? any feedback would be great because i am LOVING this site. i have a total of four done already. thanks alot and i hope this works...

Those are really nice works. They are clean and neat. I love the dynamic action poses. Only thing I can nip pick on is the placements of the second picture. It's nothing big, just that the extra margin on the right side makes the whole composition a bit off balance. Nothing a crop can't fix. :)

thanks alot for looking, yeah,... man... crop tool... im an idiot, here i was all trying to figure out what to open with and i totally forgot! haha. thanks alot for the feedback, i was just going over your dev stuff, great stuff. sharp and clean and direct.

on coloring, would it be a waste of my time to try and paint these in photoshop? i mean with all the line work for the shading. i obviously do under layers and stuff but would it be better for me to just have a cleaner beggining image?

and am i supposed to reply on these posts like this? or am i looking like a total doofus right now? :er:

I'd say doofus.... not, hehe... also my first post, but i'm used to the whole 'forum' thing. So here's my crit :D as look had said earlier, the second one could be centered a lil' more. I think that the type of shading you used for these pieces fit it well, but I think the tone transition of your 'scoops' could be a little more smooth, (you know i'm just poking fun for fun's sake, actually it looks great... but from now on...) smudge shading works better IMO for organic stuff, and that type works better for metallic stuff.

gr8 work tho man.... :nohope:

thanks, i will start doing variations on my scoop shading, softer and smoother transitions and whatnot. im just terribly stuck on speed drawing and comic styles. :[ , great to se you on here as well.

see you later nsnr8r

I think you can clean up the work a bit more with the level tool in photoshop. Sometime I even use dodge tool to clean up some areas with darker shades. (Set the dodge to dodge highlights only) I find it better than using eraser tool sometime.

And in other times, when you realy want to use the eraser tool, but afraid of earsing too much or something, use a mask instead. One great thing about mask is you aren't really deleting the information on that layer, you are simply covering and hiding parts.

here is another month, i find that i was concentrating too much on the directional forces again to come up with a good quality picture. tell me what you think. thanks. :)

okay so libra was the only inatimate zodiac i had to deal with, so i made it into kind of a golem type thing and gave the goat an arquebus so he could still do some damadge. if my penciling is too far off, those things on the golems arms are those wiegher bits on a scale. critique welcome. did i screw up on the goats face too much? im happy with the pose but i'm sure there are things that need fixing...

damn, sorry look, forgot the crop tool. please forgive me andfeel free to decimate my coloring for it. i admit that my coloring is really styalized, but i wouldn't like that to be an excuse for lousy coloring, which if this is, i'd like some suggestions. thanks
