Hello, this is my second post here :)
Here's my first post: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?p=432640#post432640

I've been trying to improve on my skills and I have tried to learn to draw well with a pencil.
I just wanted to ask you guys have I improved any and what to improve further. Here are some drawings I've done lately:

On this one I've taken reference off the WoW manual. I have no idea who's done it though :)

This one I did when a friend wanted to see me draw a sci-fi jail on a square and a vanishing point of his choice

And here's some anatomy studies done with a loomis' book :)

Here's a painting I did as an assignment from school:

I had so much stuff that I put up a website showing that stuff. Luckily the people liked the website so much they put it on the front page of the common website for all the schools in Turku, Finland.
So you can see the link on this (http://www.tkukoulu.fi/) page right under the small thumbnail image. I have no idea when they are going to remove it from there so I can't know if you can see it there at the time you are reading this. But go see anyway if it's there :) Here's the link straight to the page: http://www.tkukoulu.fi/~kaarpaht/ .
It also has some other drawings, paintings and a couple of my photos I didn't show here but the page is currently only in finnish because I havn't had the time to translate. Hope you can find your way around.

But anyway here's the thing I've been wanting to show you. My latest drawing. It's a vehicle concept I made up. It was originally a 1cm by 2cm doodle I did in school in 10 seconds just before leaving the class just to mark down a great idea. I lost the doodle for a while but now I found it. I just turned 17 and I got a scanner/printer for present so I could blow it up to an A4 paper. Then I just copied the main proportions and drew the vehicle.

Basically those things pointing down are engines. They turn back when the ship starts flying forwards. When it's stationary the engines keep the back off the ground and that little thing under the nose keeps the nose up.
The thing on it's side is supposed to be a lasercannon or something and it sucks air in through the thing on top of it nose. The flaps all over him turn him with a little help from the turning engines.

Okay now that you've seen some older stuff and some newer stuff you could tell me have I improved much and am I going the right way?
Any comment or critique on the works or the website or anything is more than welcome. I'm always eager to learn.

I agree, that are scratches.
Your work oscillating. Learn from nature with life drawings. Do big as you can.

Maybe for an artist like you those are scetches but to me they are the best I can do. I define a scetch on how much do you put into it. I've put all I've got on every one of those except maybe for that long aspect ratio enviroment which I did in a half an hour. So most of them took me the whole day to do which is about 5 to 10 hours total. My scetches are far worse than those and take me about 2 minutes to draw.

As for how big I draw those those smaller ones are usually about 15cm wide and when I draw as good as I can (which you see here) are drawn on an A4 paper sheet. I have an A3 pad of heavy paper and I've taught of drawing something on that that fills the entire sheet but so far I've drawn a couple of drawings on each of the bigger papers. At school we draw usually on A0 from life and so far I've gotten only 10's (at a scale from 4 to 10, 4 being the worst)

The definition of finished is not by your standards but by the forums standards

If you think its finished and everyone else in here is telling you it isnt this might mean you should hold off posting in the finished section and try the WIP/Sketches section till you work up the the neccesarry skill level

But keep on working, your doing great

man, i sound really pretentious... :bashful:

Exactly.

We don't tell you this to be mean. There is a certain skill level to the work that should be posted in this section. I only post my better stuff in this section, everything else goes in the WIP section. You'll see though, the mods will probably move this soon.

:S I think I sound pretentious too

Hmph... Maybe you're right.. Now that I look at the other threads the people here are a bit more skillfull than me. :( But I still think that those are more or less finished and therefore belong in this category. Most of all that vehicle, the painting and maybe the animals except for the dragon.

I'll go practice now :(

If moved to the WIP area was to receive feedback on how you can take it even further.
We are here to help eachother to get better.
You should first try to clean up your lines and work your form more.
After you get the form you should study the values and only after that you should see the color.
Looking forward your next ones.
