The random headshot is pretty awesome. I like the combination of clean cut blocks and sketchiness. His nose bothers me for some reason. It's probably face paint or something but it makes me think he has a cold :\

I know your still a young'n :P but have you done any studies yet?
Anatomy is extremely useful, even if you do it from something like dragon ball z like I had to when I was 14. O_o (even though its blown out of proportion, all the muscles are still there! :P)
Anyways, great work for your age and for only picking it up for about 3 years (your other sketchbook said you were 13 and youve been drawing for 14 months?)

Faust-Thank you man, I doubt ill ever stop working on art lol.
Chaotic-Yeah, ive been doing studies quite a bit. I did some really basic stuff for anatomy and animals but right now ive been working alot on the human head trying to get it down right. Im gonna be drawing for 2 years in about a month or so.
Thanks alot everybody for stopping by :bashful: . Ill make one more update today to make it at least a bit daily.

Very nice light. keep up with these portraits you'll be great at faces. One thing you should notice though, your faces seem to look the same. Try looking at some wide variety of faces to get you started. And I can see you've started to put values in the face more, try to make the values soft with not that many hard edges. Like when your trying to show where the shadow of a face is, when you set it out try to make it a fine gradient from the shadow to the midpoint or the highlight. Will really make em look young.

Keep it up dude, you're one of my favorite sketchbooks here.

Daunt- Hey man, youre freakishly right about everything. I am always afraid to put in too many values cuz they always turn in too dark. Also, yah ive been working on a diffrent variation of faces, but im trying to learn to draw any face at least decent before I go onto anything else lol.
Apollo- Thanks, glad you noticed because I went a bit softer on that one then I usually do and tried to pay more attention on the ref, but the ear is definatly way too rough and the eye... was hard lol. I kept trying to make it look properly like in the ref but started becoming eviiiil.
Bumskee- Thanks alot for the compliments, I appreciate the support.
Pixel- Yah, conceptart has given me so much help, I would be nowhere without it.

Very nice light, you're getting better and better by every drawing you post. One thing I would suggest is, your drawings from your mind, especially your figures, need to be a little more believable. You still seem to be drawing from your own mind too much, gotta start drawing things as they are not how you think they are. Only drawing from ref will get ya that eh. Keep on going man you will be great one day, can see it.

You got a good range of some really interesting styles…always a good thing to see in an artist!

terrific work on the skulls; I really dig that design with the one above.

This one for some reason really caught my eye.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v458/LightKirtar/Angelious.jpg
gives me some inspirational ideas.
Also reminds me of Tyrael from Diablo 2, (almost forgot about that guy!- he was badass)
You should finish it up and cover the entire two pages; even maybe adding a demon or two cowering to the side.
Keep up the good work, you’re making great progress!

Craig Houghton
August 8th, 2005, 07:19 AM
I love that scuffed skull texture. Now though, what I would recommend doing is a draw-over for your own benefit, as in correcting via an overlay or photoshop, where you look for all the inconsistencies while using a ref. If from-mem is like a pop-quiz, that next step will be like getting it graded so that you can digest the differences.

Well done!

THat skull sculpture is fun, are you going for stylization? reminds me a bit of the "day of the dead" type skulls... I like it. That's an odd arrangement, but I like it. I think some more contrast overall would help -- since you pushed the area by the mandible so dark, the rest of the piece wants in on the action.

btw, nice colors on the chameleon

Whooooooooooooooooo!
Monday-Wednsday I was observing the William Whitaker workshop, and omg that was a hell of an experience. He really is easy to talk to and really gives some great demos. I learned alot just from watching him paint and giving crits to other atendees. Also, met two fellow conceptarters there, both of which were also talented and great to talk to. Though I didnt get to paint, I took advantage of the situation with some sketching and gestures. ch-ch-check it out!

Some really mindblowing progress going on here lk, i remember back when i owned you. now the tables have turned, and the owner has become the ownee. Those bargue drawings are really quality work, good to see you going some more 'fine arts' type stuff as well as alot of life and anatomy. You really have a recipe for success in here. Those digi paints are looking nice to start, but i wanna see some sick highlighting in there, i think that will make them way better, they are too dark atm.
