As the subject says, this is the first time I've used painter. Some was good, some was annoying. Working at high res kills my machine, and it's a good machine. Any constructive criticism is very much welcome.

I think you've handled the lighting rather well, but something is lost amidst the clouds... I think looking up at the sun like that you would catch more of the underside of the clouds maybe...

I've never used painter before so I wouldn't know what to tell you on that...

don't you think his wings would be darker given the shadows on the building and on his father?

I like it, especially the colors you've used on the building and on icarus' pops.....
:D

Yeah, he's got a point. We should be seeing more of the bottom of the clouds at that angle. And maybe just fade or blur the sharp edge around sun. Even if you're staring directly at the sun (as I am oft to do), it's not a defined circular edge. Other than that, bueno! But then again, I've seen it before. ;)

... okay, yeah that bit about the angle of the clouds is probably a good call. Hrm. I tried to show the bottoms but you're right, I didn't show enough.

Next time I'll try a less defined sun. I've only looked directly at the sun through special glasses on eclipse days and it's always been pretty clearly defined, BUT, that's through special glasses that cut out like 90% of the light, and without the glasses it's probably much diffrent.

Originally the undersides of the wings were much darker. It didn't look right to me or anyone else that looked at it, so I changed it to what there is now. The underside of the temple thingy was much darker too, and you can see some of that color coming through towards the bottom.

Anyone else?
