ok. i wasnt sure where to put this but im currently at a cross roads here ppl...see i want to do computer animation right but now that i have seen so many ppl doing concept art for characters etc.. im really begining to take a solid intrest in the field

heres my question if you were to study computer animation..and on your own time somehow do some concept art etc etc.. would you consider yourself a 3d artist? or just a computer animator..

GAH! i dono wut do lol.. im intrested in animation (the movment of actual characters and so forth) but im just really more intrested in the actual modelling(whether 3d and 2d)/lighting,of enviornments, charcters and so forth.. so wut im really soppose to be studying? :$

You really cant have one with out the other I think.

All art, including 3D, and expecially animation of any kind boils down to the basics. Concept art I think (Which is what I think your talking about. I.e Charater disign, enviroments ect.) is what you start out with on any project such as animation.

So if I were you I would study both, since you want to be a animater study to be a animater. Also Study the basics until your able to produce products your able to use in your animation i.e Charater disign, enviroments ect.

Best of both worlds. Then agian I have no idea what its like in the 3d world since Im only a 2d artist, nor do I animate. Dont be easly swayed on what Ive stated, since I vary well may be wroung
So your questions should be answered by someone who is a animater and knows what to study.

Hope I gave a few insights...

There are many 3d animators who draw extremely well too. It's a matter of choice. Try both out, infact.. you might even want to do both.
