Hello, This is my first post here, been browsing for quite some time and decided it was time I step up and see what kind of critiques I get from the many great artist lurking amongst these pages. This started as a doodle I did at work while i was bored. I like pirates so i decided to take a shot at it with painter. I'm fairly new to digital painting and not completely used to my wacom yet but I think things are progressing pretty smoothly. Let me know what you think :)

this dude is really scary ;)
might look cool if he would directly stare at us. to integrate the viewer in the pic :). also his shoulders might be a little wider...
just a suggestion from a guy that canīt do art, but likes to look at it ;).
Fellah.

Cool stuff!
I agree with johann, make the body stronger and more scary to.
Nice work.

*lurk lurk lurks some more..*
this is looking good dude. perhaps the addition of hands or maybe a cutlass somewhere is all the piece needs? a threatening pose (his face is menacing, let his gestures do the rest of the talking!) for instance if he were about to attack me outta the screen and.. oh no..
:pirate: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!! :dead:

Just an update. I went abit OCD on the texture and wrinkles in his face but i'm pleased with the results. To all who commented on the last ones, thanks for the input, I agree the shoulders should be wider than they were. I'm thinking I'll add a scary parrot and probably a sword also.

Another update
Corrected the color abit, and roughed in a slightly different nose that's alittle more rugged, the other seemed to smooth and round for the haggard look the rest of the face is taking on.

For some reason, he no longer looks agressive, such as how you had him in the first post.
Perhaps that will change along the way?
