Hi all, I've been lurking for ages on these fine boards but decided that it was time to reveal myself and post something. I'm currently working in the UK as a 3d artist for a video games company on the south coast. Guessing someone I know will recognise me on these boards at some stage, so I’ll watch what I say
Here's a concerted start with some pages I've scanned from one of my sketchbooks. Nothing amazing and slightly unoriginal but hey, sue me! :bashful:
Mainly doodles and not really geared towards anything I've been working on. You'll prob see that I can be a little messy when it comes to normal media...
Comments and gumpf from all is greatly welcome. Take care ya'll...

welcome :yayca: when are these sketches from? They feel less confident than your paints...I enjoy the enviornment thumbnials and it's great to see variations on the "mask".
for your figures try backing away from their heads and incorporate more of what else is going on..i do the same thing so i know it's a hard habit to break :)
keep on posting

Yeah, you're not wrong! need to move away from the heads,
the birdy women kinda turned in to this. You'll notice the difference between my tablet work and my 'book' work is quite a lot :dead: :

Over time I kinda found myself using the tablet more than the sketch book due to work / time reasons, hence the gap/laps in traditional standards. But that's why this stuff is now here, for crits and help to get me back to speed :S
Next outing I'll try and fill in the rest. Most of it really has been doodles to get me back in the sketchbook mood... thanks tho,

Some environment stuff will come for sure, currently working on something I'll post in the near future - I think/hope, so more thumbs n' stuff next scan. Have posted 2 environments on the finished board (link below).

I'm actually employed as an environment artist but mainly deal with maya and do this stuff as a side-show. Now trying to brush up in others areas at the same time, hence the rise in posting this last month

Nice first posts, yo, welcome to CA! I agree about the environments, they look great andd Id love to see them more fleshed out. The bird woman looks nice as well, just watch the spacing on those boobies...her chest looks a little too wide and the right brest it too high, maybe check some references on that! Otherwise sketches are lookin good, post more pronto!

thing that gets me is... those boobies were that way!

digital has that feeling of less importance if you over work it you can just delete a layer and move on...a sketch book feels so permanent can make the right hemisphere go completly blank and end up reverting to drawing the default
the digital angel is much more interesting than the sketches it has alot more personlaity but is getting really tight visually. The thing i really dug about you're environments was the ability to just leave certian visual passages as is... :blahblah:
