It's not necessary to rub every line in so hard. This should only be done with the major shapes. Less important details should have weaker lines.
Also try to separate some surfaces, like making the roots under the feet black so they dont interfere with the foot roots that are closer. The hands are probably made of wood bits and bark and not twisted soft tree. Try to add some chunks of bark there and there, like kneecaps etc.

Thanks for the info. Yeah your right now that I look at it... I always seem to want to make every line very solid, and don't use much line variation.... I also agree with the seperation of the roots on the feet. Very good advice.. thanks a ton. :)

try to vary the material more, maybe add soem twigs with leaves on them.. Right there it looks like a big thing or wires or wahtever twisted all together.. try to add more variations of "earthy" stuff, liek bark, splintered wood, stumps stickign out.. whatever.. Ents can be really fun to draw if you have some good ideas! IF you havent seen them, try and see the concept art for WArcraft3 treants (basically ents) thye have some really cool concepts for them!

Thanks a ton for the info... yeah I have seen the WC3 Concept book... very nice stuff. Your totally right about the tree ents... And I also agree with your point on the variation of bark/vines/ other tree parts. lol it's too human I think. now that I look at it fresh. Thanks for all the information and advice guys...

I like it, so far the crits have been right on as far as I can tell.

I like the detail of the broken bark on the legs as well. It looks like the creature is in mid stride, so maybe I'd recommend placing the distant arm on the other side of the body to give it a more natural gate because right now it looks like to walk it swings it's arms across its body. Maybe I'm just nit picking though.

NO I completely agree. That arm is the most bothering thing to me. LOL it looks like it's grabbing itself!!!! HAAA not too good eh? Thanks for the positive feedback... You guys help a ton.
