i love the highlights on the saxophone player's head and the saxophone shading...
that's so inspiring, yet so desillusioning :(

... well if the guy playing the saxophone is the main focus of the drawing i would say you did a great job. It looks to me like you were using a triangle method to draw the eye to the guy. It seems though like it might also be the red dressed woman as the focal point because of the bright red dress thrown in their with all those darker colors. Or maybe the red dress is where the eye begins and follows that to her leg and her leg to the guy as it wraps around him.
only three compositional methods i know of layout wise...
triangle, target, and 3/4(draw two lines vertically and two lines horizontally and the corner points where the lines intersect are the areas to place the focul point/s)
and then also repetition of something...color, pattern, et ceter...
am i missing anything that i should know of?
... i may not have been taught to draw well at highschool but he did teach me composition :D

retro002: jerome is a very talented artist who attended academy while i was going there. i wish i knew, but i have no idea how to get a hold of him. anyone?...

great justin.... what did you use to get those yellow highlights on the top on the page..... the page is beautiful!
you know its hilarious how many copies there are of jerome's sketchbook floating around...

fantastic. I really like all the varied textures and how they work with the composition. The saxophonist's face is outstanding. I'm curious about the materials you used to render the saxophone itself?
