this is my rough sketch of an idea i have for a hydro vehicle. I am doing several differenet concepts, this being the one-seater sports car. at this point it is just a rough sketch. this will one of my first attempts to fully render a car out in photoshop so as I go thru the stages any help would be greatly appreciated. I have the hardest time making a piece look illustratorly finished.

Fisa I think this is a very strong start to be honest !! I think you will get some good ideas from looking at this web site specifically under the design section/transport

I like the finished look he has to his stuff . Personally I think it's a lot of work with the selection tool layin down soft shading and knowin your hot spots and lighting .. im not to good at it either but look at his stuff and emulate it ... that's the best way to learn in my opinion :chug:
Ohh and by the way I wish Planetside had turned out to look as good your designs :wtf:

If you recognize and faux pas (paws???) that I am doing please let me know.
If anyone has any lighting suggestions that would be appreciated. This telephoto lens perspective needs it ;).
Thanks for the links hardcore, I am about to check them out. As far as my Planetside concepts go, the only ones I have up are things that made it in game. My other sketches are from a game that didn't get finished. There is another concept artist on this forum who used to work here too. hopefully he will update his site with his in game stuff as well soon *cough cough*
...and where's the quake 4 stuff?

Very nice linework! :) I really like the second sketch. The colors seem a bit muddy though..
Here's a car rendering tutorial I found that might help you as far as coloring goes:
