Does anybody know how I can change "registered user" ( under my user name) into something more funny.
On CGnetwork, it's just an option, easy to find, but here on CA I can't see where I can do it.

The idea is that the admins assign titles to "special" users. What's the fun in setting the title yourself? Then we might as well disable the function and replace it with something more interesting IMHO.

vBulletin does have the option to allow users to set their own titles, though.

Assigning titles to special users sounds very reasonable but that's not what's going on the forum now. Now you just need to write to admin - ask for a special title and you get it. Even if you're not in any way special. Which is just like setting the title yourself but without setting it - if that makes any sense.

You should either allow it to everybody or not and come up with some strict system of who gets it? There should be a good reason for changing it now people are changing their titles each day just for fun.

What's a special user ? I checked this site enough to see it's not a question of skills, not a question of age ; no relation with number of post, no relation with seniority (date when a user joins).
What's the fun in setting my title myself ? Stange question from an artist... Do you find "Registered user" glamour ? We are not in the army, as far as I know, so my request is easy to understand.
On CGnetwork, the process is clear : you enable the option. If you posted more than 40 posts, you can have an avatar etc...
So explain to me, please.

We can all have custom avs, so I don't see why we can't have custom user titles. Looking at "registered user" is boring, and if everyone can get one from the mods, then I don't see why the hell it should just be put directly into the user's hands to begin with.
