I posted this to craigslist and just got nowhere, from what I see here, this looks like the place to find someone who fits my needs:
For some time now, I have needed a logo developed for my business. The trouble with this one is that I really don't want a traditional non organic logo, more so, I would like an icon. I have a serious budget for this, I can go as high as a thousand, though being under that would of course be nice.
I have been burned in the past by people who said they can do this, and charge me for something that is so far from what I wanted it is laughable. I will post some examples to show what I am looking for:
It is in this style, perhaps not so dark:

This one pretty much nails it:

And while I did locate that artist, she is too busy now. But the point is, it is this extremely clean "line" style art I am after, with such wonderful coloring and shading.
While these are somewhat different, this style is very pleasing to me as well:

So yes, all those styles are different, but they show a certain cleanness and to me at least, they seem to be in the same realm of what I am looking for. The little duck icon, if that could be recreated in some way to represent my company name, I would be pleased as punch. I will give the company name to anyone who emails me samples that seem in line with what I want.
I will tell you it is for a small internet hosting company I run, and I have the ability to be pretty non-corporate about the whole design.
What I need, is a final vector file in Freehand or Illustrator, preferably colored, feel free to go 4-color process if needed. I do really need someone who has worked with this "flow" in mind. I get people who end up sketching out on paper, and not having computer experience, they just can not take it to the final form I need. I need an illustrator file so it is not resolution dependent, and I can rip it to any size i need. It may also be able to be done in 3 spot colors in Illustrator, which would save me printing costs.
Thank for taking the time.
