Hi all, I recently got a tablet but I can't seem to find a good brush for sketching in photoshop, and can't find how to draw a nice straight angled line with a shape dynamic brush. At the moment i'm using a size 3 hard round brush with shape dynamics on so I can use pen pressure, but I do not like the results I have. When I look at pro's art they seem to have much bolder lines that fade, and perfect angles. I hold down shift to draw straight lines, but it only lets me draw them up and down. Then when I drag a angled line with shift, the line is so faded that i can barely see it.
Here are some examples:
My lines seem like they're sorta air brushy.

Heres a pic by Feng Zhu that I feel shows what I mean. His lines are straight, faded, and he has perfect angled lines.

Feng Zhu used thumbnails, copy paper, pens and a light table.....and a copy machine....you can use a scanner and a printer on your computer...same result.
Anyway, Feng Zhu is an Industrial Design Major. ID Majors are forced to draw endlessly to pass a class......OK, I won't tell you to draw more.
It all depends. What do you feel more comfortable with?
I know I can't achieve anything close to Feng Zhu without drawing on paper 1st......most artists are the same way.
Feng Zhu initially taught himself to draw on paper.....he eventually went digital, but only recently....like the past year or so.
This drawing is pen, ball point pen.....not Wacom Tablet:
He just colored it in Photoshop

Ah fuck, you're right.
The fighting Robots DVD were totally digital.
Then I can only assume it's the brush in Painter that caused that fading line and the pressure sensitivity of the Wacom.
In photoshop if you press the shift button and brush you get a straight line. I'm watching the Fighting Robot DVD and he's definitly using some sort of Shift + Brush type technique to make his straight lines.
I'd imagine those are 3 point lines with a certain brush......but what do I know, I keep making stuff up..........all the DVD's for drawing are analog except Fighting Robots..damn

In painter its a camel hair brush that guys like Feng, Church, and many others use. It produces a fine, thick to thin, calligraphic line depending on the speed and pressure you apply. That is the brush you want, but I know you do use photoshop. I am sure that it can be attained, but in the end, if you want to do concept art I recommend painter. My productivity has increased ten fold since I made the switch.

painter is nice since it lets you cailbrate your type of drawing in the brush tracking thing they have.
