Hi everybody.
I'm kind of nervous about posting here, because, 1) hello, newbie! and 2) there are SO many talented artists in this forum.
That being said I've seen some of the critiques here and think a lot of you have some wonderful ideas and have some good insights on how to improve.
I'd really like to improve.
These first pictures are Dungeons and Dragons monsters. (Yup, yup! I'm a nerd!) The bug-guys (Thri-Kreen) are based off Wayne Reynold's super-neat drawing of them, while I'm not exactly sure who designed the Land-Shark. Just that I love them as well.
So, um... here you go:

This landshark picture is essentially straight out of the Monster Manual...

But this one I did myself.

Um. :bashful:

Hey.
I like your stuff so far. Very good.
Here is a crit for ya.
To me it seems like the bright white space on you first image is too much...it'd wouldn't be so bad if the main figure was just a line drawing with no color in it, but since the figure has color in it...it kind of makes the white background stick out way to much..I'd add a color in that background instead of just white if I were you.
Everything else looks good though. Your good at coloring.
Hope to see what else you have to show.
That's all I have to say for now...

Thanks for taking the time to reply! And for the critique. :)
The first one does need some color in the background. I keep meaning to go back and throw someclouds in there, but I just keep drawing new stuff. :^^;:
But I have since then learned the evil of the white background...
Thanks again.
More stuff. Less bugs.

HI man!
Really cool line work you got here - very sharp and controlled stuff. I like your poses and the picture whit the creature coming out of the rocks is so cool! Great action. The dinousaur is neat. The bg surely needs more work on the other colored pieces, it does make them a little flat - but thats small time really. Nice work and nice design. :confident

Urgh. My bg are really atrocious, if they exist at all. :dead: I'm hoping to develop more skill with scenery (as well as a million other things) This forum has been a revelation to me. So much art. The mind boggles.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I really do appreciate it.
Um...
Here's a postcard design I did for a local comic shop contest:

Again, notice the complete and total lack of a background. /m\ The "Dr. Volts" character was pre-existant, so you can laugh at me all you want to about the mohawk, but it so wasn't my idea. I jus' put him inna suit! :blahblah:
Another dino, watercolory this time.

And behold the terror of the Inflancabra!

...as, um, as opposed to the terror of the Chupacabra.

How could you POSSIBLY by nervous about posting this stuff? It's great! :teeth:
The dinosaur watercolor is my fav out of the ones you've posted. All of your drawings are very solid, some realistic drawings would be nice to see though. Please keep posting!

Replies! <3
Orcatraz: (Great name!) Thanks! I'll try to get the thread on your porch and stop throwing it the bushes...
Dan1989: Thank you! I'm afraid that I don't have a lot of "realistic" drawings. I'm just not that talented. I'll try and find some of my sketchbooks of life drawing, but they are HORRIBLE. :nohope: Very sad. Very sad, indeed.
Fellah: Thank you, thank you! The balloon goat made me laugh a little when I was drawing it.

Yay! The indigent homeless! These two are the main NPCs in a game I made for my friends.

An older Christmas card. I can see now the boy is sitting WAY too low in the saddle. (Ouch! :x )

Hey, great work made me giggle, its good to see some humour amongst the sketchbooks here, a break from futuristic gunslingers and bearded warriors.
watercolours are evry impressive and nice clean lines.

wow, i love the creatures you design, there really good!
I exspecially like the 4th picture on the first post. The only crit i can think of at the moment is to maybe add a little bit more detail to the background.
I think these are great - keep doing more!

One very good thing I noticed waching your sketchbook here is, that you improved like hell! Keep at it!
another crit concerning your digital stuff: Add some more details in shading and color, donīt use that blurry and soft brushes that much!

flippinmental: I really do need to tighten that up, I just look at at though, and just go: I don't know how! >:| I posted it on the "help" thread, and I've gotten some good advice. Hopefully I'll get something going with it, soon.
Gloominati: Believe it or not, I just went through a couple of tutorials and barely found out about changing brush settings! :dur: I'm going to try to change stuff up as time goes by.
Let's see...

A little better, but I still obviously don't know exactly what I'm doing.
