Over the next few days I'll be posting pictures from my trip to Amsterdam at www.teamwetdog.com ... It was a great trip, and I think I got some good stuff out of it. My attempts to shoot in Amsterdam's red light district were quickly thwarted, but one image I shot I'll include below.
I had envisioned a broader shot -- something involving the people on the street interacting with the women behind the doors. Ultimately I decided shooting there at night was too dangerous and decided to try during the daytime, when there was considerably less traffic.
Well, what came out of it is really just this image. I think it's gritty and dark and ambiguous enough to skew away from voyeurism - I like the graffiti reflected in the door and the woman glancing out.
I walked through a couple of times shooting off my hip, and on the second time was basically run out of the district and a mostly-naked woman kept shouting at me in Dutch. So much for this expiriment...
