This images has been moved from Finaly Finished thread to Helpfull Critiques thread. I think that edge is moved too high. If some people put lot of time in their work, this work should be respected.
As the point of Leonardo's or Vermer's view all of us shoud be posting in Helpfull crit. tread.
Some people post 5 min scratches in finished thread, and its ok to be moved. If people think that theirs work need lot of helpfull critiques they will post in this thread.
I think its better to make new thread wich calls Profesional's work or Allmost Best of CA, and to leave Finaly finished to every decent piece.
Cheers
(sry for bad english)
EDIT: As for me, finaly finished is most important on this forum in wich most of artist who post are medium level, so it looks natural to they have most important thread.

I think one or two of those probably deserved to be moved. But I think the vast majority of those should have stayed in the Finally Finished section. With quite a few of them, I don't see why they were moved at all.
*sigh*

Agreed. A couple should've been moved to Helpful Critiques, a couple could've gone either way and a couple definitely should've stayed in Finally Finished.
Consistency is hard with something as subjective as quality of art can be, especially with the wide range of styles posted here. I think the current system is probably still the best way to do it, but we should try to be a little more consistent. It's still not really clear where the line is.

I agree with fukifino and 0kelvin. Moving most of them isn't called for, and doing shit like that will just turn people off, if they keep trying hard only to get a smackdown, when it isn't even deserved.

I think the mods can do whatever they want.

I agree that a lot of this stuff looks great and should not have been moved, but a crack on the finally finished section is long over due. Personally, I think it makes more sense for people to post work in a the helpful critiques section and then have mods move it to the finished section at their discretion. This way you avoid embaressment as people are honored with the privalidge of having their work displayed in a choice gallery reserved for those who work hard and go the extra mile.

At first, I wasn't sure how to react to such a massive move, but after reading all the replies, and then going back and looking at the pictures separately, instead of as a whole, I think it was a good call. Every piece has something to keep it from honestly being considered complete. Some need a background, some need better light rendering, some need cleaner edges. Niggly little details, overall, but separately, enough to justify the move.
Good Mod Job! :yayca:
My favorite of all of them is the "Man's Ruin" tattoo design. Well done!

According to this, it makes me think we should change the name of the Finished Section to the Respected Art Section. They all need critique and feedback but all art does and these are at the same level of finish as some of those we call pros.
The first image is just as "finished" looking than much of the work of Ashley Wood and I'm betting he's a community favorite.
The second to last one (General) looks like it was meant to be a miniature and is very finished for that field. They're printed 2 inches tall so lack of detail doesn't mean lack of finish.
The website is Concept Art dot org and we're going to move these out of the finished section because they're not finished enough. 70% of the concept art I see aren't polished illustrations with every hair painted.
This move would improve the quality of the Finally finished section but then it turns the finally finished section into another Best of CA.

I see no problems with it.
Posting art in the WIP or extra help forums doesn't really mean "Art that sucks".
I'd hate to see CA become a fridge door of sorts, people posting EVERY single piece of art they do in the finished section.

I don't believe there has ever been a "perfect" piece of artwork ever produced. There are always things that could be pushed and pulled. The finished section should be just that, finished work; and let the exceptional join the ranks of also being in "the best of CA."

I agree. But moving 50% of threads is too rough move. I actaly have a feeling that moderator dont thake this job seriously.

1,9, 11, 13, 14 are (what i consider) FF able.
the other stuff isnt. finally finished does not mean any image your done with. it means a piece you thought out and are willing to show as a "professional" profolio. obviously my version of a professional piece and someone elses may differ, but the finally finished is for quality peices.

They could all use some finishing touches. And really, if all of this work is in the Finally Finished section, there's no reason to look at the other sections at all, right?
For instance i like the werewolf / zombie picture, but i'm not sure if it would make it as a commercial illustration. At least the werewolf could take another hour or two of work.
Think about it. After a while members will get used to browsing the WIP and Lifedrawing sections more often, because there is quality work to be found there. The Finally Finished section will showcase the really good members. Like a bigger version of the frontpage artist showcase. There's many great members i don't know because i really don't feel like looking through 20 new threads each day where 3 would suffice.
If the results are less clutter and a more organized forum everyone wins.

my gut reaction was, wow, some of this stuff was moved?
but on second thought, i welcome and encourage the massive overhaul. even if it means for some hurt feelings.
why? because it's come to the point where i don't even bother browsing the section. i usually just look at some sketchbooks or whatever. there are a LOT of creative outlets on the forum, not just 'finally finished'.
that said, i'm wondering if the wording shouldnt be changed for that section of the forum. like someone said, a lot of work by 'pro' artists may in fact be quick sketches or hurried or unrefined, but it's still quality work. quality really does speak for itself.
i'm not sure what you could call it exactly. half the stuff that comes to mind ends up sounding really insulting and patronizing :).

I like intern's idea of having the name imply or a description that says Professional Portfolio Pieces or maybe have an ammount of time suggestion.
15+ hour Pieces only. That would be a difficult one to call since I know a lot of the pro can whip quality stuff out in 5 hours.

Ouch. I know that my piece had it's faults (I acknowledged as much in the thread itself), but I felt it was above the normal level that the helpful critiques has. Guess I was wrong. :(
Thanks to Danilo for the vote of confidence though, it's nice to know that somebody likes my work! :)

Ah, damn... *sees chances of ever getting anything to stay in the FF section vanish*
Probably a good call, though. Going to hopefully really raise the bar.

From now on, you must draw this well (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=36084) to post in the Finally Finished section. :P :tihi:
