I like this. I really like the coloring (although you may be mixing with white too much in places).. but that hand is huge!

No comments on the hand, I promise. Although I agree. :-)
The whole pose seems like a great cover for Clive Barker's "The Body Politic," when a man's hands become self-aware and try to, er, gain their freedom.
Watch that shirt sleeve on the left, too. Seems ambiguous.
Other than that, though, I think your brushwork is quite nice! Keep 'em coming!

I talked to people about the hand size time and time again. In the end I felt the the size being slightly larger.. over all helps the concept of the piece. The portrait of who is of... Is an individual that deals with major back problems and endures over all alot of pain, pain that he has dealt with all his life. Therefore the painting has a calm color scheme that represents the acceptance of physical pain. He is piering down to draw attension to his hand clutching his forearm, which is representitive of his plight.

I love Your left hand (it's little to big.. isn't it?) and the colours on it. Great portrait!
