MAking things 3d - more form question?

Hey guys, this is one of my main problems, how do you make something look more round/3 dimensional, more form to it. What i mean, is say i wanted to draw dragon, but not a gay side or front view, but a perspective view how do i go about doing it, with all the above stuff. Or any other object/character etc..
