some figure drawings from the past couple of months. this page was done in pen with water color wash. i think these poses were about 5 minutes each.
and no, hes not wearing a wig.

the same model, 40 minute pose in pencil.

Those wash gestures are really lovely!
It seems like the 40-minute pose is much less confident. You should work with the same speed and looseness even if you know the pose will be long!

trying to be more atmospheric and less linear with this one. 20 and 40 minutes.

beautiful life drawings here.... it is a good thing to practice from a model. do you ever draw people from life? i like both, but have not made it to enough model sessions recently... keep it up!

Wow man, these life studies are looking GREAT! Looks like Gury did his job well. These just remind me how much I need to work from life more often. Keep 'em comin man. You know you're holding out on us.

Very cool indeed.

I love the life that your quick lines have ... the 2nd image here (40min pencil drawing) doesn't look quite so good because the outline has been overworked into solid black all the way round, which is making it seem really rigid compared to your other works.

Keep it up!

Unit18 Nate - thanks for the comments. to me, those two are finished. im not that interested in photo-realism except the process, which is something you couldnt see if they were totally finished.

if you ever get a day-job laidback enough to let you do this kind of stuff on the clock, take it!

i did this sketch trying to get a poster job for a warped tour band. i think i over indulged myself with this one, they ended up hiring someone with a lighter style. anyway, i still think im going to turn it into a finish..

evidence- i dig it, all of it, nice line quality and a keen eye for action through subtlety. I think i'd like to see some more of your color work- you have an interesting natural pallate. maybe some rendering with color is in your future? Keep it all coming anyhow- it's good stuff with lots of potential.

this is a piece i just finished for a commercial project. not how i usualy work, but it was fun using simple design elements and shapes. aaaannnd he looks a lot like the iron giant. something about this composition makes it hard to look at...maybe its the color...

Those first life drawings rock my red zone.

Keep up the work, it's paying off!

Never listen to flap traps if he posts in your thread, he's a threat to society. He's spent a quarter of his life in lock-up due to his roller blading fiascos down at the docks.

I really like your sketchbook drawings a lot <> Bjorn is right, there is a sensitivity in your faces but I see it in many of your drawings as well, especially the figures <> dig what you said earlier about the drawings being finished <> finished is a deadly word <> I think we share some similar thoughts on some of these issues <> I love the process until it really starts to be rendering and not drawing!

Thank you for sharing with us your very interesting drawings. I like your enthusiasm with which you draw different subjects and themes. I can see you in your work: the humorous approach. Love the girl' head with fancy hairdo, a funny guy in glasses, insect-robot-vesicle, woman's back, life figure drawings.
