Still trying to hone my skills on depth and distance, done in p-shop , I will be switching to painter 0 next week

I'm not sure how exactly to fix it. But the pic does'nt seem to have a real sense of unity. It looks like the building, trees and mountain were all from different images and you put them together. But many beginners, like myself, lol have that problem. I'd suggest checking out Feng Zhu's (http://www.artbyfeng.com) website if you're keen on environements.

Totally. But don't take what I said as entirely negative. Because I really dig the mountains. And I'm still too much of a wuss to start up painter again.

John, I think you should investigate 'atmospheric perspective'. It's the phenomena of objects decreasing in not just size, but value, contrast, detail, clarity and saturation as they recede into space.
If you put the same amount of contrast, texture and detail into the foreground rock that you put into the mountains, and toned down those same elements in the mountains with some hazyness, i think it will help you achieve the distance and depth.
I really like the variety of marks that you are making and those mountains really feel like solid rock. Good job.
