Working on my website (in perpetuity), this is my latest. Plan on doing some nice bright flames, some purple at the tips, and 'aberrant' is just a placeholder I'll do that black like burnt wood with a hot glow around it. I like the direction it's going but if you could offer an opinion it would help.

The flames definately need some colour differentiation and I would suggest stronger highlights on the skull itself.

Thanks I was thinking it would need stronger highlights. Flames are just one color so far.

I like the skull
I agree about the flames though
But also...I think maybe try making the text black and the flames shooting around them.

Sorry, I mentioned I decided on the text color in my first post at the top. Now how do these smiley things work...
Yeah that's the stuff.

I think I need to make the lighting on the skull a little stronger, in terms of value not saturation.

Damn, comparing it to the first one... I think I need to trim the flames a bit too, they got a bit out of control.

Yeah, they should get thinner, down to almost a point at the end. And yes, I agree with you, your skull needs to be much much brighter in value on the right side where the flame is. I like the high contrast in the flames at the base of the skull, I think you need to put more of those highlights throughout the flame itself.

Skull is mostly done except for some definition in the side of the zygomatic, I'll probably get on the flames tonight.

thats really well drawn. you seem to be really thinking about this very carefully. wheres the purple ambiance (im guessing its relected light) coming from? is that another light soruce or is it a shadow? the reason why i ask is because you have a part of the skull surrounded by flames where it should be reflecting more orange-yellow light because of the high saturation, instead of the purple saturated. the only way that could happen is if the light source (flame) was purple. still a fucking sweet ass skull tho. the flames arelooking great too. im not sure if theres enough radiance from it though. maybe some more glow?

I'm working on this one little bits at a time so I can go slower and hopefully make better decisions on it... I do 2 kinds of stuff I guess, quick and messy learning experiences and stuff I plan to use (liek this).
Website layout will use purple, it's hard to see but theres a purple margin on the left and I wanted to tie the skull into the whole site's color scheme.
Might need to knock the saturation down on the flames or kick it up in the skull? Maybe hard to tell before flames are done.

This is looking very sweet, but font seems a lttle too regular (even in its upset form) for the word "aberrant". I know it's more a title than a word in this instance, but it's a little like using blue. I hope that makes sense.

Text is a little plain but I want to break up the bits with bright lines to make it seem like it's glowing so I don't want readability to be a problem. And I'm too lazy to change it!
Damn stupid flames. They're just not happening, I barely did anything, I'm just going to leave it for a while.
Hopefully posting every little revision isn't a big dumb move on my part. Just a waste of bandwidth.
