What do you you usually start with? then "uprez" to?
I realize it would be faster to paint in a low res situation, but what is a good final output resolution
Just curious
Thanks

I don't come from a print background so someone may have better advice than I can give. But I fought with this topic myself. What rez should I make my art so that it will look good when printed?
If you create an 8 by 10 300 dpi document it will be 3000 x 2400 pixels. This will print out really well even at higher outputs, like 11 by 14. But I will sometimes go as high as 3000 by 4000 pixels just to be safe. The actual size will depend on the aspect ratio of your piece and it's final output.
I don't uprez for the most part. I find I can work really large in Painter than in PhotoShop (must be a RAM thing, I only have a gig). In the Church dvd that I have (vol.3) he uprezs from about 1400 pixels to like 3000 for his final piece. Uprezing is really to save your computer from choking when making big brushstrokes.
Hope that helps.
