When painting a sculpture what paints do you recommend? And what techniques?

You could try airbrushing acrylic paint, or dry brushing with acrylic. Or try both! What I find most effective when painting anything is painting in layers. Some people paint on dark tones first, then brighten it up using a lighter colour, whereas others paint on lighter tones then build it up graually using darker tones. But experimenting is really what I think you should do right now. It won't hurt to experiment on your new sculpt, but if you don't want to do that then you could make a quick 'rough' sculpt and experiment on that too. The good thing about airbrushing is that you can produce the perfect gradient and it'll produce some realistic results. Dry brushing is more 'rougher' but a common technique used by plenty. I look forward to see what you come up with mate. :^^:
