Very cool. Can't critique anything.
Great work, and that 2nd guy is really creepy.

Green girl looks cool but the lighting seems off, especially on the nose I just can't figure out what's going on. I might be wrong, maybe you can explain the light source (s)

thanks for the replies guys
yeah the light is supposed to be coming from the top, just slightly to the right off center of the image. now that i look at it, the lighting is a little off. thanks for point that out. :right: im still working on it so if there is anything else wrong with it, feel free to let me know!

On the first one, the nose is to dark. the light is coming down on everything except the nose. I know you arent done, so you might have been planning on doing this, but add some lighting highlights to the top of her hair, itsll help the light also. Her teeth are too white for how dark it is. inbetween the top lip and the start of the teeth its quit dark, just extend that down getting slightly lighter as you go, but itll still end up darker than how you have it.
Both pictures kick ass. On the second one, you might like the idea of having it perfectly symetrical, which is fine. but you might wanna just change a few lines and define a few so it isnt exaclt and might not look so noticeable. But either way it looks great :)

k, i fixed the light a bit more, put some more shadow under the upper lip, which was a good suggestion Clown thanks. im starting to develop the hair too. i also gave her some freckles! i think they help out so its not so plain. what da ya think?

Yeah I always get carried away and get ahead of myself too. But I think theres still some big lighting issues going on here in the middle of the face. The shadows you have on either side of the nose I usually see in extreme bottom lighting, not top. When those shadows go to blend into the cheek it's really puzzling... unless she has huge craters on either side of her nose? Highlight on the nose looks too low, the shadow overtop that seems too dark, that entire plane of the nose from the tip to almost up at the bridge would be catching a lot of light if it were up high like you say. Theres a little divet at the bridge of the nose under the brow with a plane that faces down a bit that you seem to have ignored. What the hell I'll do a quick repaint to show you what I'm thinking... suggestion only of course, even with all the problems it still looks pretty good.

I changed teeth, hair, nose, forehead, shadows under hair.

sweet! thanks Aberrant i get what you mean about pretty much everything you said to me. im excited that you mentioned all of my lighting mistakes cause i cant find any ref to help me at the moment. my light knowledge isnt as developed as i would like it to be. ill use your sketch as my ref too. great critique dude. im gonna fix this right now. :teeth:

i thought that it looked fine before... the highlights now seem a little off... all i was thinking was to maybe take out the freckles

ok i fixed many things on this update.
-i changed the lighting around the nose
-toned down the freckles
-put some detail around the eyes
-put for form around the mouth
and a lot of little things too.
tell me if im going in the right direction or if i should turn around. haha
been working on this a lot lately so im interested to know how its doing.

I think the lighting is a lot more believable. Maybe the brow and forehead should be a lighter though. The bridge of the nose isn't defined very well too... try not to follow what I did too much cause I used some pretty broad brush strokes to change values fast and didn't pay attention to defining form in any other way.
Damn, when you compare to the original she looks pissed right off. I think that's my fault, the planes on top of the brow should catch more light but maybe soften it up a bit, unless you want her to look like she wants to kill the veiwer.

lol she’s just wants to get finished haha. yeah i did change the values a little to strong there. i was just seeing if the lighting was better. and it is so ill paint some more after i eat this frozen pizza and play that incredibly addicting game known as Socom II, US navy seals. honestly if you haven’t played it don’t because you'll play more then you paint!

im glad you ditched the freckles, they flattened the picture so much. very nice to see the progression with this piece, its nice to say the least :D shes certainly looking a lot older than the original, its weird what lighting and muscle definition will do :P keep it up :D
oh and id like to see much more definition on the hair at this point.. also some of the right cheek and lower eyelid are creeping over too far just be sure to watch your boundaries.
