I believe I was able to get the correct RGB values and everything saved in Painter IX (including a new custom palette) for Shane's excelent Concept Brushes (prismacolor). I have it on my personal ftp space (from my isp). Please download and try it out.

Download here.

Import the BRS file first and then the PAL file.

Let me know what you find...

I was able to grab the most important settings from the old Concept brushes file (since I don't have a copy of P6, this is all I could find). Here you go...
Brush settings:

General
dab type - circular
stroke - single
method - wet
Subcategory - Grainy Wet Abrasive
Opacity - 24%
Grain - 58%
Size
size - 12 (4 for the small tip)
Min. size - 100%
size step - 5%
Spacing
Spacing - 1%
Min Spacing - 2.0
Damping - 50%

And the RGB Values for the whole range of cool greys...

10% - 224.228.230
20% - 207.210.213
30% - 194.197.200
40% - 169.174.179
50% - 132.138.144
60% - 115.122.129
70% - 98.104.110
80% - 63.66.69
90% - 36.38.40

I was fine tuning the Concept Brushes set for P9, and here's a little test...

http://www.prtc.net/~prcrash/Concept_brushes_test.jpg

But I have a problem:

I can't seem to find a way (even after reading the manual) to export all of these brushes to the XML file format that Painter 9 uses. I don't even know where painter saves the brushes when I update a variant, because the *.brs file that I imported (from the P6 shane's brushes) does not reflect the changes I have made in it if I import it again. If anyone with a little more expertise in Painter can give me some instructions on how to do this, I'll repackage the brushes for everyone to have.

Thanks in advance!

Nevermind!

I found them!!!

c:\documents and settings\[username]\application data\corel\painter ix\brushes

that's where painter stores the imported brushes. I made a zip file with the brushes and another with the custom pallette I made. you can grab them below:

Brushes (http://www.prtc.net/~prcrash/Prismacolor_Brushes.zip)

Palette (http://www.prtc.net/~prcrash/Concept_Palette.zip)

I know someone wanted these converted - you're welcome!

Retarded question perhaps, but do these work with Painter 8??
Thanks for your efforts.

I don't have Painter 8, but if it uses the same xml format for the brush files, I don't see why they should not work. If anyone tries it, let everyone know through this thread.

I'm glad ppl are using these. I have tried to e-mail shane, but I always get a bounce back when I e-mail him...

I tried but couldn't get them to work. I don't really know how to do it though...but I did the same as with the seegmiller brushes which worked, so not really sure what to do with these.

If anyone has put these into 8 then please let me know how to do it. Much appreciated.
