im starting my first sculpture..but i can never get really smooth surfaces or straight edges..(like this one http://p094.ezboard.com/fkidrobotfrm23.showMessage?topicID=441.topic ) cuz my hand would always be touching some part after working on another... (im using super sculpey!) can n e one give me tips as to how i should handle the sculpey before bake..and what kinda tools i could be using ? thxxxx alot!

i would bake it an then sanding/grinding it. ah, and i think/hope u use modelling tools and an armature. if not, it s no wonder :)

I found a tip on a sculptors web sit a while ago, I can't rember the site, but he would add clay, put it in the oven for a couple of minutes, add more and shape, bake another couple of minutes, and so on. This keeps the shape while handeling the clay. I'm not sure how well this techinque works for the long term stability of the sculpted piece since this guy was making castings of the work. A dremmel is a great tool for firm sculpey, it can give you a nice edge.
