Yep, couldn't agree more, it's definitely on my top five. I love the criterion collection packaging too.. 3 dvds in a nice little case. An insane amount of extras. I still find myself whistling that main song.

yeah, I think Ill have to pick up the criterion version. I love that feeling when you just pop in a movie, and halfway through, it strikes you "This movie is awesome!" btw, do you know who did the "brazil" song? like the latin one they sing right in the beginning? all my searches turn up is a version with kate bush singing, or the instrumental soundtrack for the movie......

Terry Gilliam's ? It's awesome, altho a little bit depressing :) I loved DeNiro's cameo in it. Have you seen Dark City ? You might like that one too.

Dark City?! Great movie! The idea comes from a role playing game I think... A lot of good ideas in that movie! :)
Anyway... Brazil is a classic!

So I had to rent it again over the weekend ;P Man, Im lovin it.

Egerie - Yeah, I have seen Dark City, thought it was ok. What I love about Brazil, which is why 1984 and Brave New World were great is for their educational value, and social applicability. Something within that vein that I don't think too many people have head of is Katsuhiro Otomo's short film "Cannon Fodder." It's a part of the "Memories" animation collection DVD. Really cool, basically potrays one day in the life of a family who exists in a society that is at constant war. They wake up every morning, and fire off their cannon's at a distant, unseen enemy, and every aspect of life is related to this. Mathematics is taught in the school, but only in terms of things like bullet trajectory. Definetly worth a look to anyone that finds the whole "negative Utopia" setting interesting.

did you see the theatrical release, or the director's cut? Ive only seen the director's version, which is about 2 1/2 hours long, and I really loved how they did the ending. Don't wanna say anything and spoil anything for peple who havent seen it. Apparently the original theatrical version was severely edited, and so butchered, especially the ending, that Gilliam told the studio that he didn't want his name attached to it when it got released.
