Hehe, true. I kinda thought his arms would help him lift his very heavy legs, and also the legs wouldn't go up very high, he takes small steps.

Thanks!

Very nice detail, but to me the creature as a whole somehow looks as if it's floating.. I think the cast shadow is the problem, if the light source is straight above then the feet and parts of the legs should receive no direct light at all since the body is blocking the light.. The body casts a very sharp shadow but that shadow suddenly stops at the feet, that way it looks like the feet are not connected to the ground

Sweet pic! :D

I love the unorthadox color scheme, especially the bright purple that accentuates the thing's face... definatly brings it over the line from just being a monster sketch to being really bizzare and surreal looking.

In terms of a crit I don't have much, it works well for what it is, personally I think the proportions of the creature are kinda' unattractive, but then I usually like to make all my stuff needlessly pretty or cute.

the painting is very cool...but there's a perspective issue there i think...the rest is perfect!

Thanks for all the comments.

TY- yeah, I'd like to see that too!! Ha! I hope I one day have the patience to do such a thing.... well, maybe I do. I dunno, maybe I'll give it a whirl!

I agree there are some perspective issues and shadow issues. I will try to be more conscious of that....

Kill- I have actually had that nick for a long time, and only realized that it may look like I am copying Pudd'nhead after I started posting here. I hope he doesn't think I did it on purpose......hehe.

Speaking of which, I haven't seen him or Jon Foster post here in a while. I want more!

man, that is spiffy. good textures everywhere.

the arm/leg lockup makes him look immobilized to me though..is he a hopper?

Well, if you look closely, you may be able to tell that the arms connect through long holes in the foreleg and in the bottom part of his leg that allow for movement within (does that make sense?), so I imagined that he would take small steps:

So he probably wouldn't be able to lift his legs very high, but enough to walk.

I dunno why I did this, just thought it would be different. I like trying to come up with creatures that are strange or frightening in their , but perhaps concievable. I imagine that perhaps as this creature evolved, it's arms and legs were so close together, and the legs so heavy, that it would use the arms to sort of push them forward or up in order to take a step. Over time they just sort of linked up, but are not actually joined or bonded together.

pardon my french....but dude...that's f*cked up!
in other words...i like it!

colors and textures are pleasing too...just doesn't look like it is in the environment...feels pasted on. that is my only crit there!

cheers!

beautiful piece!
your color usage is awesome!
so much flagrant, beautiful paint.

i love it.

the perspective on the gun bothers me.
it doesn't seem to fit the angle of the beast.

beautiful concept though!

Phenomenal, and you should send that in to Croteam. It looks like it would fit the Serious Sam universe to a T.

the painting is very nice. i think the main perspective issue is in the face. there is no depth on the (viewers) left side of it. therefore the creatures face seems to lie on a flat plane even though it's stuctured to be looking at an angle.

Navel_lint- Thank you. You are right, the gun seems a bit off...

Vaarok - Croteam? I am not familiar with them..... I will look into it though, thanks.

Keyth- WOW! You are right. I really didn;t see that until you said. Thanks.
